I flew the other day from Syd to Mel with one of my staff. Even though the amount of people being screened was low, by habit i used the priority lane. A very diligient Qantas employee asked for my boarding pass but i showed him my Q card and told him i was checking in at the lounge. He asked the same for my colleague and i said i would check him in at the lounge too. However as he is a NB the attendant tried to kick him out of the queue. I said we are travelling on the same itinerary and he could stay with me. I was told not to do this again as CL's and WP's are complaining of the screening delays (apparently up to 15 mins) because of the amount of friends status pax were bringing with them. I replied that as a WP myself i have no problem walking in with someone on the same itinerary.

Happy to be corrected here on the forum but i think i am in the right?

Maybe Qantas could deploy this guy onto the priority boarding queue at the gate, he might be more popular there.:)

Should be no problems for people travelling together.

Not sure about what they've done to the lane now. It will certainly slow down normal security.

The premium security in Sydney can be stupidly delayed. I find that is usually a function of people sneaking in without any status at all, who then can't get themselves organised. Or even people who just can't get their cough together. e.g. standing around in a queue for 5 minutes and then decide to empty your pockets. Clowns!

I would assume guest lounge rules would logically apply to security? I.e if you are with one or two others and would get them into lounge, it is reasonable for them to access security with you, so that you (the QFF member) are not inconvenienced. Same with ppl on single itinerary.

Just a grumpy staff member having a bad day methinks - too funny: who gives a flying one about cl's complaining!

WP's CL's "complaining" about non DYKWIA pax heading through the priority screening? blah.

IME that far left "priority" screening lane is (in peak hour) is the slowest, at a guess I'd use that lane prob 30% of the time.

There was one Friday afternoon 2 months ago where they had moved the ropes and the signs with a QF staff member guarding the entrance where it was clearly obvious gold, platinum and J only. The priority line worked very well on that afternoon.

I haven't seen that setup since unfortunately.

I generally find the far left security much faster regardless.

Worked like a treat this morning in the rush hour. Long lines at the regular lanes, but a staff member policing the priority lane which had two channels operating. I literally walked up, placed my stuff in a tray and walked through.

Couldn't agree more about the numpties that seem to realize that they have to put their stuff in the tray at the last minute.
