SYD curfew

What everyone forgets is our capacity to adapt. After years living under Sydneys flightpath and on a busy road when we moved to the country we couldn't sleep for 3 months because it was too bl**dy quiet!

Why should people by the airport be forced to "adapt" to unwanted noise late at night ; you chose to move to the country it wasn't forced on you by others who decided it might be of benefit to them

Dave go and take some happy pills.Didnt you notice the little laughing emoticon.
Besides I was basically forced to move. And people do adapt-they are not forced to it just happens.

There should be no curfew for LANDINGS
The curfew for takeoffs should be FIXED and include departures from the gates as well as takeoffs.

There - I should have aggravated everyone. As well as provided for some more efficient usage of airports AND fuel.

Excuse me, but I feel the need to rant.

I don't think airports should have to suffer curfews period. Most airports have been around 50+ years, and if you move near one and don't educate yourself on the impacts you have only yourself to blame.

If you live near an airport, a road or any form of transport infrastructure there is a reasonable expectation that use and resulting noise will increase over time.

While technologies may improve over time reducing the impact of the noise, you should have no expectations - as you've chose to live there so its just a simple fact of life and you need to deal with it.

Rant over, glad I got that out of my system.

Hi Winchester
We moved in knowing we werent eligible for the sound proofing scheme and that would get some noise etc. AND that the Adelaide curfew was 11pm to 6am.

We love where we are and the airport is very convenient for all in Adelaide.

Silly to stop a plane landing at 11:05pm and send it back to canberra the other night - it should have landed but with a penalty ($) to the company - just some commonsense - same way i think 6am means start your engines not take-off.

I guess this thread now illustrates why no ground has been made on curfews in this country for years - it's about a 50/50 split (or maybe that's more like 40/40/20 with the 20% "dont care" meaning a consensus can never be reached.)

Thanks all for input. Interesting.

Witha 40/40/20 mix you really have two sides that will each claim 60%.
