I have the below routing on my trip to Europe in September. It is a very odd and long trip, but as i work in wholesale travel I have access to industry fares and the prices were to good to be true. The part I am concerned about is the transit time in HEL. The AY website does indicate it will take approx. 35 mins and I know HEL is known for quick transfers .... Any thoughts? Any one completed such a transfer? Also wondering if anyone has actually been able to make a reservation at the sleeping rooms/hotel in BKK airport. I filled out the form 2 weeks ago and have not heard back ..

AY 5002 02SEP Sydney to Bangkok 0940 1635 (Operated by QF)
AY 090 03SEP Bangkok to Helsinki 0855 1520
AY 873 03SEP Helsinki to Paris 1605 1810

AY 14OCT London to Helsinki 1020 1515

Helsinki Vantaa airport is very compact. It's a short walk from the non-Schengen area (where you will be arriving at) through immigration (very quick) to the Schengen zone where you'll be boarding your Paris flight.
I did a similar type if transfer there in 2009 coming from St.Petersburg going to Rome, from my memory the transit time was about ah hour and I think I was off the plane and by the gate in 15 min. My luggage also made it to Rome, to my surprise. Finland is a very well organized country and Vantaa is a great (relatively) small airport. I wouldn't be too worried.
as to BKK - why don't you go to Novotel just outside the airport or even to a hotel in town near the airport line? You've got plenty of time, why spend it in the terminal? I've stayed at the Novotel twice, it's just fantastic
