Yesterday, faster than flying from ABX to SYD according to your report of the flight delays.

And you go straight into Sydney Central as well, if you're heading into the CBD. Only if Australia had the bullet train...

I've also never seen the fridges as empty as they were on Friday night! The whole place was literally in a shambles.

We were on VA 1189 SYD-PQQ today from T2. We stayed at Caringbah last night & despite being close to the airport there was apparently much less rain than around the airport.There were certainly more cars trying to get around T2 & T3 around 11am today. At Virgin checkin there were crowds with heaps going on schoolies. We only needed bag drop but it was a long line & eventually we were called to lines 1 & 2 that were catering only to closing flights. Our flight was late to start loading, then we were told there were 2 no shows so their luggage was offloaded & then after sitting onboard with no updates we were told the airport had been closed due to storms. The seat belt sign stayed on all flight.
I now believe we were lucky to get home only 75 minutes or so late

My partner was scheduled on QF452 Mel to Sydney and QF583 to Perth. 452 cancelled announcement in the lounge stated plane had been struck by lightning. Rebooked on direct QF773 running an hour late with international config worked out well. Just have to workout if original routing credit works on two separate PNRs

Just found out that the storms knocked out almost the entire train network in SYD as well. Guess nobody was going anyone last night, planes or trains.
