Hi,
Just wondering if anyone else has been surprised by their low QFF earn rate on Emirates flights? I saw an online guide (which I can't find now) with indications of what I should expect (I thought about 47,000 points in total) - but I am guessing that the earn rate must have dropped since that article was published. 4 people return from Europe (Launceston to Athens, and London to Launceston) will earn us about 20,000 points in total (economy) - can't give an exact figure since the return points have not yet posted. Disappointed.

Book the QF codeshare if you want full points (not that Y would earn very much on QF either).

Qantas have been progressively smashing the earn rate across all the partners. Emirates had their turn back in February.

The QF codeshare option was a couple of thousand dollars more (so not attractive).

Are you not able to use the QF points calculator to gauge how many points you should be expecting?

As Emirates aren't OW I didn't believe you'd earn QFF points unless 4digit QF flight #

That's not correct - an EK flight in an eligible fare class will earn you points, whilst a QF codeshare on EK metal will earn you points and SC's.

I just priced flights for an upcoming trip SYD-DXB-LHR-GLA-DXB-LHR flying on QF metal and QF codeshares (LHR-GLA is BA) in J earns 65k points and 630 SC. The same itinerary with the DXB-LHR, GLA-DXB segments on EK earns 56k points and 420 SC, so it would seem you earn less points and no SC on EK metal.

You earn less points and no status credits on the EK code, not metal. QF coded flights on EK metal earn the full serve of points and status credits, as if you were travelling on QF metal.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I'm a bit unclear - do you mean 20,000 for the whole 4 of you? A quick look at the earning calculator shows over 10,000 pp for MEL - Dubai - Athens plus London - Dubai - Melbourne on EK in discount Y. Have a look at the calculator and see what you get.

The last flight between Singapore and Melbourne has not yet posted - but it looks like we will get about 5500-6000 points per person. (So better than the original 20,000 - probably closer to 24,000 points in total). I could only see points calculators for Qantas flights, not Emirates codes. I think it is correct, but a disappointing accrual for $10,000 worth of flights.

For each flight segment you can select the marketing airline from the drop-down list on the calculator.
