Sunshine Coast Restaurants.

For reasonably priced decent food try the Dicky Beach surf club. We had lunch there today. Mrsdrron had the scallops with avocado and I had the special Seafood treasures. All the seafood was delicious and cooked perfectly. So the menu and specials.

I talk a lot about our favourite restaurant but have not posted about it on this thread. It is Nguyen Bros at Maroochydore in the Kon Tiki centre.

Nguyen Bros have also recently opened at Tewantin. Haven't been yet but on my list. I'm at Marcus Beach and enjoy some good restaurants in the Noosa area, but feel they are getting overpriced for what you get. Sum Yung Guys at Noosaville is one of my faves. Need to book well ahead but worth it. Another one to try is Bask at Eumundi. They do a set menu long lunch on Saturdays (with matching wine option) and haven't been disappointed yet. They also do a la carte Thursday and Friday evenings but the long lunch is my preference.

And the food. Two entrees prawn beignets and tuna carpaccio. Both very nice.
IMG_1962.JPG
IMG_1963.JPG

And 3 main course. Fish of the day.
IMG_1966.JPG

Moreton bay bug and linguini
IMG_1967.JPG

And 2 of us had the sole meuniere with sides.
IMG_1964.JPG
IMG_1965.JPG

It was beautiful.
And 1 dessert the pandan pannacotta. also very nice.
IMG_1968.JPG

You certainly have to book on saturday night.

The other new restaurant for us is Amici in Caloundra. Italian.
We shared the flash fried octopus with a coconut chilli dressing on the side.

Absolutely Beautiful.
Next garlic prawns for Mrsdrron.
FB65DD5B-3612-4B2E-873A-0CA973CB2424.jpeg

Again beautiful.
I had the Rigatoni Amatricians.

Full of flavour.
Service was excellent and quick.
Recommended.

Another restaurant for lunch today. Nuoc Cham at the Spit Mooloolaba. Supposedly Vietnamese fusion Menu raised doubts.
IMG_2890.JPG.IMG_2892.JPG.
IMG_E2891.JPG.

We shared a few of the smaller dishes. First the scallops with sauce on the side.
IMG_2893.JPG

Overcooked and not great, Then the chicken satay. Chicken a little undercooked and sauce a bit spicy.
IMG_2894.JPG

Vegan spring rolls with shimeji mushrooms. Very bland.
IMG_2895.JPG

Soft shell crab summer rolls with a ponzu sauce. Probably the best dish but quite a bit of chilli in the sauce which ruled it out for Mrsdrron.
IMG_2896.JPG

And last a Hoi An duck pancake. Wasn't what we expected and flavours really didn't blend together.
IMG_2897.JPG

Not much of a view. You can sit outside and watch the cars go round and round as they try and find a park.
IMG_2898.JPG

Then the service. Told that it was the waiter's first day. Slow and clueless. Asked for a bottle of Sav Blanc but delivered 2 glasses. Threw her right off so I gave Mrsdrron my glass and just had the water.
The worst part though was my seat had a view of the basins outside their toilets. The waiter went to the loo and came out without washing her hands.

We definitely won't be going back.

Helping the local Coast hospitality sector it was yet another new restaurant today. We went with good friends to the Periwinkle restaurant in Peregian. First the menu.

Now the food. I had the Tuscan Tarte flambé with Gorgonzola and prosciutto whilst Mrsdrron had the spanned crab linguine.

They were all excellent. The truffled fries were good too.
Then dessert. I had the apple tart, Mrsdrron had the crème brûlée and one of the guests had the crepe Suzette.

Again all excellent.
Definitely recommended.

I've been to Periwinkle a few times and it doesn't disappoint. The owners have also recently opened a Mediterranean Italian restaurant in the new Maroochydore CBD called Bottarga.

Bottarga ia on my list to try when we get back from our long trip. Though there are some pretty good Italian Restaurants on the Coast with our old favourite Bella Venezia, a new one only a Km walk from our place Bocca which is very good and a new one in Caloundra Amici also quite good.
Though we do visit Il Vento as it is the only place I can use my Yums from the Fork bookings. We don't mind it at all with $50 off basically meaning free wine.

I had the okonomiyaki. Certainly not classic Japanese style but delicious. It came with pork belly.
IMG_4482.JPEG

Mrsdrron had the pork belly bao buns asnd they were really good.
IMG_4484.JPEG

Our friends both had the Acai bowl and they polished it off saying it was great.
IMG_4483.JPEG

The place used to be a bakery and they still do some baking. The croissants looked nice.
IMG_4485.JPEG

So recommended.

I’ve heard good things about this place but haven’t been as it’s a bit out of the way but must try and get there.

The next has become a firm favourite of ours. Have visited 6 times since getting back from our last trip at the beginning of June this year. The Tziki Bar at Forest Glen. No menu but here is the food. usually go with friends and share the plates. We always have 2 plates of the lamb ribs. before i can get a photo of the first plate someone has already got some on their plate.
IMG_4524.jpg
IMG_4528.jpg

We also had the roast cauliflower salad and the octopus.
IMG_4525.jpg
IMG_4526.jpg

Last but not least a Greek pizza with lamb sausage mushrooms and truffles. Really good.
IMG_4527.jpg

So if you like Greek food this is well worth a visit.

Last night again it was out with friends but a little bit upmarket at the Marketplace, Maroochydore. Once again too busy talking so I missed taking pictures of the menu.
Mrsdrron started with the baked scallops and liked them.
IMG_4533.jpg

Our friend started with the Mooloolaba prawns and thought them excellent.
IMG_4534.jpg
Whilst I started with a kingfish cerviche. It was magnificent.
IMG_4535.jpg

Mrsdrron then had a second starter of quail. Beautiful, tasty and tender.
IMG_4536.jpg

The other 3 of us had the lamb rack special. It was Tasmanian lamb so was absolutely perfect. Beautifally pink inside. Tender and tasted great.
IMG_4537.jpg

For desserts Mrsdrron had the coconut and raspberry sorbet which she liked.
IMG_4538.jpg

I had what was called a lemon pavlova. Not really a pavlova but it tasted very nice so who cares what it is called.
IMG_4539.jpg

We had started with a pinot grigio. Not sure what it was as was already opened and being consumed when I arrived back from parking the car. But I had the right to choose the red so I decided a Tasmanian Pinot Noir would be the way to go. They only had 2 on the wine list. I went with the Ghost Rock single vineyard Bonadale Pinot Noir. It was fantastic. Well worth a try.

So another recommended restaurant.

After many years being an honary travel promoter for various places around Australia particularly Tasmania it feels very good to finally doing it for the Sunshine Coast.

Another one to try is Bask at Eumundi. They do a set menu long lunch on Saturdays (with matching wine option) and haven't been disappointed yet. They also do a la carte Thursday and Friday evenings but the long lunch is my preference.
Just turned up after calling to leave a message to find this so we ended up at the Imperial Hotel across the street:IMG_20230930_123952954_HDR.jpg
