Work on the Sunshine Coast's new $347 million international airport scheduled to begin early next year after the Federal Government approved a $181 million concessional loan for a new runway and terminal. Local council yet to announce funding source for the $166 million balance of the project. Upgrade will allow 787s to fly in from Asia but new runway alignment likely to increase aircraft noise for an existing community.
