Stuck in quarantine.....where would you be?

I saw this thread over at Flyertalk and thought it might be a bit fun here too. So you are stuck in quarantine for the next 14 days. You can't leave your room/villa and all you can get is room service and mini bar. You can go on the balcony or in your private pool if you have one Where would you be?

I'd still go a bit crazy being cooped up for two weeks but I think if I was staying at the W Seminyak in a pool villa, I could while away the 14 days fairly easily.

Definitely some kind of private villa in a quality area of Bali, or Thailand, or Malaysia. Although a nice chateaux in countryside France would be rather nice. Baguettes, croisant, jambon et fromage, and Champagne.

For my hotel quarantine I think Bali would be the place to be for me


I think there is a business in adventure quarantine that an aspiring shipping magnate could offer on a country by country basis.

Currently, people fly into australia at 900lm/hr on a jet to only then sit in hotel quarantine for 14 days going nowhere.

How about boarding a 'quarantine' cruise ship in Europe, spend 14-21 days cruising to australia and disembark here with the 14 day quarantine already completed.

Obviously quite a few hurdles to overcome, but it does show that there are better ways than hotel quarantine in Sydney CBD.

Gee, I don't think I'd want to be locked in an inner cabin for 14 days.
Quarantine means being isolated from everyone, locked in your room

Conrad Koh Samui (private pool villa) would be a nice option.

But for city hotels, I'm struggling. Basically any city hotel with 1 BR apartment or suite, with opening windows would be a preference.

Where would I be, fussing around in the spare room, suitcase on the floor putting things in (I might need this) and taking things out (I'll never wear that, I didn't last time) before my flight tomorrow to Malaysia and Thailand for 10 days.

What to take? Smaller suitcase since its not my usual 6-8 weeks and no cold weather. KL hot and humid, conference, smart casual, maybe a semi-formal dinner. HKT, hot and humid, casual beachwear, flip-flops, stuff I'll wear one last time and chuck in the bin (old undies, socks, t'shirts), something light to cover my arms & a hat to avoid sunburn on a boat trip to an island. People laughed when I took my bum bag last time, but its so handy for hand gel, tissues and the phone.

Oh did I fill my script? Maybe some Keto snacks so I don't have to eat something that looks laced with sugar. That second set of sunnies needs to be in there seeing I've lost pairs in Spain and Greece. Oh and the new headset with lightning plug seeing the many sets I have stashed in various bags no long work on the new iPhone 11.

Decisions, decisions.

Just to spoil the thread.... I have no qualms about staying home for 14 days. Ideally in summer so I can use the pool, wonder down to one of the dams to practice my fly fishing casting. Hubby does most of the cooking these days anyway.
Only commented to hubby this morning that I would really LIKE 14 days at home.
But in the game of this thread - at a friends house - outside of Cooma, I could spend 14 days cleaning it.

My daughter called me in March, she had been in self isolation in AMS and scheduled air services already affected by the time she finished ISO. "Dad, what do I do?" Me: "If you don't mind staying in Europe 9-12 months just stay there." She has a compromised immune system so I was concerned about her traveling. She stayed and Covid has raised her media profile internationally because she is now marketing herself online with tutorials etc. In her area of interest she is now one of the better known instructors, something she could never have achieved in Australia.

What exactly did you think would happen in basements in Austria? And for 14 days in somewhere rural like Cooma ......
