Woke up and had a thought.. Do airlines or airports acknowledge midnight on NYE at all?

Haven't flown at that time before.. Any experience anyone?

Have never flown, but have heard stories of pilots recognising it and various gestures from cabin crew.
It is usually low passenger numbers (like Christmas day)

Don't know about NYE but I recall getting certificates for flying over the International Date Line and the Equator.

It wasn't midnight yet, but the then looming NYE was acknowledged on Qantas flight yesterday afternoon with all pax receiving a glass of prosecco (was announced via PA before serving). I only drank a sip or two (didn't appeal) but the gesture was appreciated all the same.

Flew once from SFO to SYD, departing 30th December evening. With the the difference +1day, midnight and the new year happened somewhere over the Pacific.

The crew brought all around bubbly in plastic cups discretely offering them to any awake passengers. This was QF in Y class too.

I did a MEL-AKL NYE flight a few years ago. Was acknowledged by the Captain and sparkling Jacobs Creek *gag*. The crew were in good spirits generally and the cabin had a bit of a cheer.

I flew ADL-MEL early yesterday evening on QF. They offered all pax yellowglen to celebrate the occasion. I was offered it on at least 3 occasions.

Last year I flew HKT to PER on DJ in J on the 31st, arrived perth around 5 or 6am if memory serves. Not only did they not recognise NYE in any way, there wasn't a drop of any type of champagne on board (or blankets for that matter!!). Talk about a poverty flight.

The last two years prior I've been on SQ227 and QF30 in Y.

On SQ a pilot made an announcement and the FA's brought around some bubbles around breakfast time. Nothing on QF.
I recall a very light load on the SQ A380, <25%.

Flying over the middle of a beautifully coloured Oz landscape as the sun rises on a new year is, for me, a nicer way to start the year than getting ratfaced.

QF16 on 31 Dec - 2350 departure.

Small acknowledgement during climb out - everyone just wanted the dinner service then sleep :)

Was in whY

Flew on a CX flight over 12/13, brief announcement from pilot on take off and the crew offered real champagne from F to me and the other 4 upper deck J passengers during the first drink round.
