Strategy to obtain US Amex

ITIN approval is subject to IRS processing time of course. Earlier this year the IRS timeframe for processing was about 2 months, from receipt of the ITIN application, but it varies based on the workload. So, we are at the mercy of the IRS for this.

Also, forgot to mention, the IRS processes ITIN applications in the order that they are received.

So, regardless of which Certified Acceptance Agent submits the application, once it’s received at the IRS, it will go into the same processing queue.

I got ITIN for US$220 plus US$12.10 via IRS CAA on Fiverr

feel free to use my referral for a further 10% off
Do you recommend IRS CAA? I didn't know any recommendations for this but SH studios and don't want to mess things up just for some savings so went ahead with SH.

still 1 more application for my spouse too so if reliable and I can save some money then it's great.

I guessed I got too excited to test the water. Went thru Nova Credit with my new ITIN and applied for a free Amex Hilton card as advised. Got rejected. Reason not sure. However Nova Credit report retrieve my credit score in Australia and gave me a score of under 700. Not sure why, I checked my credit score in Australia across 3 agencies and it's Very Good with a slight off 800 score. Why would Nova Credit just gave me under 700?
What do I do now? Wait if so how long to try again? Dispute by calling Amex? I didn't hide my IP address, would that be issue? TIA

Need to get GT first as when you apply for cards, you will have no credit history and won't be able to get a card. Usually you need your ITIN 9 months after you have had a US amex card so you have credit history.
Went thru Nova Credit with my new ITIN .. Got rejected ..

Was there something that persuaded you to not do GT? Not much of a relationship with Amex AU perhaps? Just too keen to get the card?

I would, because IRS CAA and sight your document remotely and then you don't have to notarize your ID in US consulate which occurs further costs.

So, I called Amex US, CS advised they could not retrieve my credit report in Australia somehow hence the decision, They advised me to apply again via phone so CS can guide me on filling correct information thru Nova Credit. I will wait for next week to talk to Nova Credit and see what they gonna do. Will report back for whoever want to try Nova Credit .

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

You don’t start the payment process from the Wise end. Add your Wise bank details to your Amex account and use that to pay off your statements.

Also, not sure if the checking thing is a new development, but unless there’s an official statement somewhere, I’d say give it some time to come through.
I'm not sure if this is a new feature or I just noticed it.

Chase blocked my US Citibank checking account and won't let me link it again. They say they need to send me paperwork and have me go into a branch. I think I got a digit wrong and then it returned payment.

I've been using a relative as an intermediary which is a pain but yesterday I discovered my standard Wise account has a US routing number and account number. I used these numbers to link to my Chase account and sent through a test payment and it worked!

An advantage of this method is that you can save a day or two waiting for your funds to clear from Wise to your US bank account. I'm now considering whether I close my Citibank checking account - will most likely monitor for a few months.
