Strategy to obtain US Amex

I tried using the pre approval link for C1 both with US VPN and non VPN but it keeps saying site can't be reached.
I wasn't using a VPN. Just tried the link again, it came right up. I'm in Brisbane at home now, normal IP.

has anyone applied for a Charles Schwab Bank checking account? Seems to be from some reading need to combine a brokerage account with checking but can have zero in brokerage and no minimum for the bank account- online as no physical banks and free atm withdrawals

Can you let us know what sort of address it is that you are trying to use? Is it MyUS? Is it different to your Capital One checking account address?
It is a MyUS address and they were happy to accept that for my Checking Account. I do have a PO Box in California but they wont accept that. What's the workaround for a MyUS?

I planned to apply for both checking and credit cards with Capital One as well. So, I may need to look at other credit cards as I only have a MyUS address

I'm at 6/24 so shut out. But maybe others can use this?

Hoping that leads to matches with the current 75K offer — that would up the SUB on my current Ink from 115K (with referral) to 130K (with referral).

Surprised that people find Chase CS better than Amex?
Who matches higher offers that come out after you sign up? Chase
Who sends cards directly to Australia? Chase
Who plays games with sign up bonus eligibility? Amex
Who has CS agents that answer your query directly rather than trying to upsell you products? Chase
Who can deal with most queries by secure message? Chase

The Secure Message function is actually a godsend.

Unfortunately I missed out on the Amex Marriott Business card that gave 3 nights :(. Hopefully it'll be back next month....

Chase sounds better than the big 4 Aussie banks.

Never heard of offer matching but that sounds quite impressive.

Chase's annual fees and SUBs are much better than Amex. And they are straight-forward about the 5/24 thing and any other disqualification like waiting 24 months or whatever.

Cap 1 is really vague although that tool I posted above helps a lot. Citi is also pretty vague. And maybe draconian about fraud from what I read on FT. I have never had any problems with a Chase card.

hey mate, the current offer is 125k points. If given the option I would have taken this offer over the 3 night 50K cert.

Thanks it worked today. Maybe the site was down that day.

The Ink Business cards are a godsend if you have enough spend to keep churning the 100k or so bonus.

125k for 8K spend though. it was 3 50k certs for 6K spend and each cert had the ability to be topped up.

ya but these certs have one year validity and you are limited to 65k properties. Some of the properties are notoriously pricing award nights slightly over 65k.
