Strategy to obtain US Amex

I’ll keep going through each card’s benefits, I know that MR points are more valuable than Hilton’s.
Yes, the two are like comparing apples and oranges. However, each has benefits. It really depends on what sort of benefit you are after.

Also, accumulating 410,000 points through SUBs on 3 x Hilton cards helped out with my recent Hilton stays in the US and Canada, short term benefit notwithstanding.

Have you checked if you installed both E-Sims on the same IMEI or not? you phone should have 2 IMEIs.
anyhow, you can only run one E-Sim and one Physical nano sim on iPhones prior to 13.
One must be physical.
Thanks for the info . Can I not use one esim at a time ( by switching off other ) if I have 2 Esims installed ?

I have previously used 2 esims on this phone ( both of oz carriers ) I might have had to switch one off at time .

These bills come and go, lot of hot air and nothing ever comes out of them.
One day they might just get it up - I don't know why regulators are on such a crusade about this issue - it NEVER results in lower prices for consumers - retailers just absorb it into their margins. Look what happened in AU with the RBA's "Reforms". Do the Americans not see what happened here as a cautionary tale? Yes, I am biased but for good reason.

Did you wait the 10 days? I want to get my 2nd Amex shipped here too.
Actually I just had my new card shipped to oz 7 days after approval . Fraud dept identified me using existing card .and called me back on my text now no Witt first call on hold . Pleasantly surprised .no is 888 213 4286

How long did you have your first US Amex before being approved for the second?
I had to wait six months and that's what Cs rep told me back in January when I mentioned I was interested in the Bonvoy business card as well. Tried to apply four months in back in May (first card approved in January) but my application was denied in an instant.

That's interesting. Did they give any more info as to why? I applied for my first two US Amexes within weeks of each other.

Just applied for first Chase business card. They wanted verification of business premises via a utility bill. Will be interesting to see if they accept a personal checking account statement ha! Would be great to be able to get on the Chase business card bandwagon, but I have my doubts that I'll be approved.

Amex seems to be okay with 2 x cc approvals in 90 days, but at least 5 days in between the two. Chase (5 in 24 months rule) although a bit tougher with card approvals than Amex.

Hm okay but did you have a credit score as well when you applied for your first US Amexes?

Cs mentioned in January I needed a credit score which would take about six months to roll out from the first Amex card in January and after that I would be able to apply for a new card. Did a GT back then together with my Itin number so I was fresh into the game.

Approved (to my great surprise). Seems like the identity verification documents were enough. Can't believe I am now on the Chase business card bandwagon — one of the best churning opportunities out there because they can be alternated with Amex business cards while remaining under 5/24.

Congrats!!
Would you mind sharing your credit score and more info about your credit history in the US?

One thing to keep in mind is that the Amex CSRs often misunderstand the application rules for Amex cards (reports of errors are pretty commonplace on US forums). Also, you can often get approved after an initial denial through recon, so also keep that in mind next time.

I don't want to divulge anything too personal here, but let me give you a few tips:
- Go for Amex first, both personal and business — they are very lax with approvals and, once your identity is verified, will often give you an instant card number. Main thing you need to keep in mind is velocity rules — 2/90 with credit cards, etc.
- Move to Chase second, starting with the IHG cards — they are rumoured to be the easiest on approvals. Keep in mind 5/24 and requirement for CSP/CSR to have 12+ months of credit history.
- Move to others third — Barclays wants to see a fairly long credit history (3+ years) before approving business cards, etc.

What do you need to get an Amex business card?

A pulse. You apply as a sole proprietor, can put $0 business revenue if you want (if you need to verify over the phone, just say you're only starting with your side job, which could be anything — selling on Ebay, Uber driver, etc etc). The only documentation they ever require is proof of address (a checking account statement will do) and identity (passport will do). Never proof of income/business unless you get a financial review, which typically only happens if you do something suspicious (put $10K on a brand new card, credit cycle, etc).

The route for Australians is to apply for a personal card through GT before starting with business cards.

It is a doddle compared to Australian Amexes, which require an ABN etc.

Did you get any upgrades in the US and Canada with your Diamond status? I heard upgrades are hard to come by in the US due to lots of people having the Hilton Aspire card.
