Strategy to obtain US Amex

My t-mobile SIM card was delivered today

Anybody know how to set it up? I'm outside the US

Can't seem to create a t-mobile account without a phone number - can't get the number without an account

Have the SIM number, PUK code and IMEI from an unlocked iPhone but no joy

Heeeeeeeeeelp:oops:
Is TextNow not good enough to use with american banks? I thought it did let you reply to text messages from short numbers?

Just received an email telling me my Amex Bonvoy Briliant application is successful. Had a Myus-address on my application and it was no worries. Also had a GV-number.
Had to provide a bank statement from an american bank with the same address as was in my application and upload that. In total I believe I called Amex three times and used this number: 1-866-929-5160. So I always talked to the correct department for Global transfer. I don't suggest to call any other number.

All in all I will say this was not a smooth application at all. Americans do love their phone calls which is strange I believe. Their chat online is useless.

Would you have any tips on obtaining a US bank account so quickly?
I don't really as the american bank (Charles Schwab bank) I attempted to use paused my US bank account as they found out I was using a non residential address and asked me on phone to provide a residential address instead. Luckily I was able to grab some kind of statement from their page confirming my bank account with them and give that to Amex. I was lucky Amex rep didn't call them...

If you're Australian i'd recommend HSBC as earlier poster mentioned.

If anybody cares ……

The ‘instructions’ and information at the bottom of the eBay page are out of date

Emailed support. They referred me to aaasim.com to activate. It all happened pretty quickly after that.

Curiously, on the one hand, it said they would activate within 2hrs but, on the other, it said activations would only take place within a certain schedule based on U.S. time. I was well outside those times but activation still occurred within 2hrs

Set up a T-Mobile account to find the number was already in the name of another (Chinese) person. SIM activity showed it alternatively active/suspended. Presumably this is how they keep a long since defunct phone plan active for public sale

Lastly, I have only been able to get a U.S. denominated credit card to work with the account to make automatic payments for the Plan renewal. I tried my Wise debit MasterCard to make a single top up payment and to use it for auto-pay on the account. It went through both times and then showed as “cancelled by T-Mobile” with the money refunded to my Wise account

I bought my SIM nearly 12 months ago on Amazon and it worked like a charm. In conclusion does you SIM work since u topped it up with your US denominated CC

Hey Guys,

Complete noob to this and there is a tone of information but looking for the easiest way to get a Hilton aspire card and a little overwhelmed by the amount of pages haha

Easiest Path would be to go through the Global Transfer program. You will need a US address and phone number and bank statement to prove your address.

Thanks for the reply man.
So I just apply for a credit card here in Aus?
Then do the global transfer?
At which point do I get to select a different card or upgrade?

Sorry for the questions and thanks again

A decent amount of Amex credit history (say 6+ months) in Australia is required first. Then you use the Amex Australia login. There is the 120k QF Ultimate bonus points (via Champagne Mile) offer going on, and its good if you have any plans to use the $450 Credit for Qantas Flights. Keep the account in good standing.

In terms of the global transfer, change the version to United States from your Amex Australia login. Then you can apply for the Hilton Aspire. A pop up will show if you want to use your Australian Amex credit history. Click yes and some details gets prefilled. Then enter the US-based details as you wish. Sometimes you get automatically approved, some require you to talk to Customer Service.

It’s once every 12 months, not calendar year. And I did it recently. 99% of CSO’s have no clue about this, so don’t worry too much on what they say. Keep trying until you get someone who can do it.
