This is exactly how I pay my US AMEX bill. Normally it takes 5 business days to appear on AMEX US app.

For those who have took the plunge, did you consider it worthwhile to get a US Amex card? I am really interested to get the Amex Hilton card for the Platinum status, but it seems like a huge hassle to get one and I heard the financial review from US Amex is a real pain even for people living in US.

A question to those in the know: I DO have a SSN from when I lived/worked there 15 years ago. I do NOT have anything that proves a US residential address (i.e. utility bill etc). I do, however, have a brother that lives in Seattle so I will have an actual address I can use to get stuff sent to.

So... with all that, can anyone recommend a bank in California/Washington to get a checking account started? I heard that Citi required proof of residency?

It really depended on your spending pattern whether you can justify the annual fee or not. I got the Amex Hilton Aspire card, the $250 Hilton credit, $250 Airline credit and free weekend night already worth the annual fee, and there are more benefits.

Anyone successfully got a 2nd US Amex card after got the 1st one by Global transfer, without SSN or ITIN. My 2nd application failed after 6 months I got my 1st card. To check the reason why it failed, it requires SSN, which I don't have.

How did you apply? I got 3 more cards with no issue. Second card was a bit less than 6 months. Need to be done on the phone. It is also good to call them when it is their working hours so they can give approval straight away. However, my last application was almost a year ago. Not sure if things have changed.

I just applied over the phone, went through all the process, details. The guy on the phone submit the application and within 5 secs he told me it comes back as failed.

I am also 6 months after the 1st card now.

Maybe he didn't know what he was doing? My second applications failed as well without SSN but was sorted out after giving a passport number. After that, I told them from the start I had no SSN and would like to use passport to apply. HUCA?

you are right, I don’t think he knew what he was doing. Should I call them again with my failed application number or should I apply again with a new application and my passport number?

If the reason was SSN, I think it won't hurt to ask them to try on this failed one to save time. That was the case for me. If not, you can always ask them to start a new application.

I got my 2nd US Amex card.

I called them to check why the previous application for my 2nd card was failed, then been told one of my repayment was declined for my existing Amex card. The new card application considers this is a serious issue, need to apply again after 30 days of the declined payment. So I called again, after 30 days, application approved over the phone.

Yeah!

Well done. Do you ask them to send new card to your Australia address directly?
