Odd to launch it today when the first flight was on the weekend when the flights occur
Qantaslink Jets into Hervey Bay | 22 May 2014 |
QantasLink today launched its first direct flight between Sydney and Hervey Bay, strengthening its 33 year commitment to the Fraser Coast region. Qantas Queensland Regional Manager Peter Collyns said the airline was delighted to be offering customers direct services between Hervey Bay and Sydney. “This is great news for our Sydney and Hervey Bay customers who no longer have to travel through Brisbane to get to their destination, shaving off over an hour from their travel time,” said Mr Collyns. “Our customers will have a wonderful experience on our refurbished Boeing 717 jet, with iPad inflight entertainment, market leading seats, as well as premium food and drinks. "The services will provide more choice for air services to Hervey Bay and will also be a boost for tourism to the area." Fraser Coast Mayor Councillor Gerard O’Connell said he was delighted QantasLink had chosen the Fraser Coast to provide direct weekend flights and that the decision was a growing sign of confidence in the region. “This is a real boost for our tourism industry and is about growing the market and ensuring the Fraser Coast continues to thrive as a tourism destination,” said Cr O’Connell. “I applaud QantasLink and encourage the Fraser Coast community to support the airline. “The more people we can attract to the region boosts the local economy and helps spread the word that the Fraser Coast is the ideal destination to visit, live, work and invest.” The services will be operated by a 110 seat Boeing 717 aircraft, with one return service on Saturday and Sunday’s. QantasLink has served the Fraser Coast community for 33 years, with Brisbane – Hervey Bay services. |
