I know of a person who does not like to wait for checked in bags to arrive so travels with the bare necessities but takes that as carry on luggage. Each to his own!!!

As for unusual carry items.... Krispy Kreme doughnuts (until a few years back when the stores themselves proliferated and the fad died).

I'd like to ask about carry on. There have been lots of posts about wheelies, etc. When I travel I take a very small backpack or QF bag with laptop and not much else. What do people have in those wheel on bags ? Why does it need to come into the cabin anyway ? Does any airline check the size ? QF it seems the answer is no. Are people just avoiding excess baggage charges by loading up their cabin bags and if so what do people think about this ?
