Stop Snoring

I have 2 batteries just in case the onboard power does not work.
I'm interested in what sort of batteries you use - I've thought of trying to take lead-acid batteries but they're heavy - about as heavy as the power pack.

EDIT: asked Dr Google: Li-Ion ~AU$500. Even Amazon's ones are US$350.

SWMBO was highly disappointed that I didn't sound like Darth Vadar.

SWMBO is not impressed when I blow in her ear if I roll over and face her whilst asleep!:D Though I have to say my new Eson mask seems to diffuse the air much better than my old F&P one.

As much as I'm not friendly. I again strongly encourage you to seek treatment. a heart attack at 50 is not something I'd wish on anybody*. Or driving off the road into a tree. There are some very small CPAP machines around, perfect for travel. Certainly I think my health is more important than the inconvience of having to lug the thing everywhere. You sure don't use them for SYD-OOL. But here's a thought - if you were actually getting a decent sleep you wouldn't fall asleep before take off.

* Except for a certain ex - She deserves everything she gets.
Someone was trying to link snoring to sleep apnoea. Maybe there is a link.

I snore. I snore a lot. The more I drink the louder I snore.

I may also have sleep apnoea. I don't want to know. I do not feel like falling asleep in the middle of the day or when I am driving a car. In fact I have less sleep I know than most people as I try to cram in too much into the day/night.

I had a heart attack when I was 39. Gave up smoking. The next danger period is 55-59 for a male. Hope to get through that one as well and be playing golf on my 100th birthday. That is the number 1 item on my bucket list. And if I can break 100 on that day it will be even more special.

I can snore even when sleeping on my stomach as my throat anatomy gives me no choice!

I'd love nothing more to take a sleeping tablet and sleep through long haul flights but these make it worse and I am very conscious of being the person people in this thread are complaining about.

Adelaide summer, facing her is acceptable. In winter not so much. ;) Will have to check out that mask. I just use the resmed battery.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Several years ago I bought 2 lithium batteries from CPAP.com as that was before Resmed offered them. I have 4 CPAP units I use and the little light portable unit I don't use as it is too noisy with too little adjustment. It just gets down to masks that suit you and that becomes a personal choice. I have the extra machines so that I don't have to carry them in Australia and in less than 5 minutes I can have a unit ready for sleep.
I use a machine onboard long haul planes and wake up refreshed. I know my heart has not had to work hard overnight and I believe that is good for living longer and in better health. A Tumi plug adapter is in my Resmed travel bag and now you cannot check the lithium batteries into your checked in luggage.
I have a medical letter in my carry on bag just in case I get bumped onto a different airline or if someone tries to prevent me from boarding.

Several years ago I bought 2 lithium batteries

Thanks for all the info, cove.

I picked up a Resmed battery from CPAP Vic ($514 all up) and have done a couple of test runs at home on my S9 elite (sans humidifier).
Eight hours' use gets it from four bars down to two which is good enough for my forthcoming Trans-Pacific runs. It then charges off the Resmed power supply in about three hours.

This afternoon I sat down to punch in the details to my TRS app and only then realised that the battery is GST-free (and here's me thinking I'd be getting $46 back! ). Now to send off my QF CPAP form.

Qantas special handling folks are lovely. Give them a call and they will give you the procedure to get your sleep machine registered in their system.
I always take the batteries to cover the just in case no power at your seat.

I am also guilty of the charge. Not defending the other guilty party, however he could be in the same line of work as myself, where I get onto the midnight horror in Perth bound for Sydney after finishing a twelve hour shift then by the time I get on the flight have been awake in excess of 24 hours.
Even abstaining from any alcohol during that time doesn't help, and I dare not try and get some sleep waiting for the flight, as I have missed too many flights doing that.

Time for a grandad nap.

Cheers

I'm hoping to snore a little (or at least sleep) on my flight from BKK to Oz this evening (in business class, otherwise little chance). I departed LGW at 6:50 am yesterday and have not had much sleep, so I'm probably a good candidate.

Glad I'm not travelling with my wife...

For the record, according to my seat mate, I did sleep quite well on this flight, but he didn't say whether I snored or not. Perhaps he was just being kind...
