Hello,
I missed a connection ( Sydney-Bangkok ) because of a delay on the ( Adelaide - Sydney ) flight, anyways I went to check for my bags in sydney at the baggage services, they said that my bags already went to my final destination ( Amman - Jordan ), and they lodged a report or whatever (worldtracer).

I just came back to jordan, asked for the bags, they told me that the bags did not arrive yet. ( and they also lodged a worldtracer)

Qantas report says:
Bag 1 Status RECEIVED AT AIRPORT / DELIVERY PROCESS INITIATED
Bag 2 Status RECEIVED AT AIRPORT / DELIVERY PROCESS INITIATED

The report I lodged from my country Jordan ( royal jordanian airlines ) says:
Bag 1 Status TRACING CONTINUES. PLEASE CHECK BACK LATER
Bag 2 Status TRACING CONTINUES. PLEASE CHECK BACK LATER

Any idea what's happening here ?

My bags have stuff worth 3 thousand dollars, I'd lose my brains if I don't find them..

Any ideas?

The guy in my country told me that the staff in Sydney looks like they forwarded my bags to UAE ( united arab emirates - dubai ) and they still need time to get to Jordan. Not sure if he's bull****ting or not though. :(

Sorry can't help with your predicament in Jordan but I had similar issues during a RTW in August of last year. The luggage was delayed in LGA and I lodged a missing luggage report for 2 bags in TPA the same night.

The bags were finally located and sent together to ATH a few days later. I received one bag 4 days later and this bag was logged on the database as sent and received in ATH and I was able to find it easily. The second was not logged as sent and received. It was only pure luck that I was able to find the bag in ATH airport 7 days later.

Do not have faith in reporting systems. Whilst every care is taken to update the database you will find that on some occassions this is not done and the person responsible could not care less. The system is not perfect and we all hope that our luggage arrives with us at our destination. I hope you have travel insurance that will cover most reasonable costs for clothes if the bags are missing for more than 6 hours and there have been posts on AFF stating what compensation you can receive if your bags are never returned.

lenix,

Welcome to AFF.

I agree entirely with JohnK on this but must ask why you had $3000 of stuff in your bags. Do you have travel insurance in case the bags go on their own permanent holiday :?:

I know it's wrong having that much of stuff that worth around 3k, but I simply didn't expect this happening ( I don't travel a lot ).

Anyways for the good part, They called me after 2 days ( After I almost gave up ) telling that my bags are here :p:p

I went and picked them up and everything is safe.. nothing is messed with.. I'm really happy!

By the way, sorry for being too late to inform you guys about the good news... had too much work since I arrived here.

Many thanks for your concerns though :)
