Yep, especially the vertical stabilizer. That's why NASA's 747 has two additional vertical stabilizers on the wingtips of the horizontal stabilizers (tailplane).

I did think it sent the wrong message chopping down a heap of trees to get it through the streets...

It is a sad indictment of manned space travel though that the US doesn't have its own manned space travel program.

I thought that I read that they cut down 400 trees and plan to replant 1000.

Wonder if the 747 pilots take on additional training for the payload and how would you plug that into any simulator?
