This came about because I couldn't use my Ambassador weekend free nigh at any of the OS ICs we are staying at before the offer expires. In this situation we normally tay at Sanctuary Cove. As there is now a Brisbane IC decided to give it a try. It was available on every weekend. So on12/12 we set off down the Bruce highway ~1.30pm. The traffic was heavy but until we got to Anzac avenue where our speed dropped to 40 kph. Until then the traffic was moving at 110kph.
What amazed me was the antics of some motorcyclists. I am used o them overtaking on the shoulders but on 6 occasions they were overtaking through 2 lanes. Traffic was going at 110 and they were doing 20-30 Kph above that. One of the times I had just overtaken a car in the middle lane and was coming back into that lane from the right hand lane. The overtaken car blocked the view of the inside lane so I was half way into the lane when I saw the bike coming between the 2 lanes and he was really going. I felt I had to move back to the right lane to be sure of missing him.
Apart from that It was an uneventful trip and we pulled up at the IC around 1530. Good service at the door and we were in to the lift up to the sixth floor to check in. It was here that i began to doubt the stay. I had received an email saying I had been upgraded 2 days before the stay but on the webste nothing had changed. I had booked a king room on a higher floor and received a king room on floor 18 out of floors 9-25 that were available. I considered this more of a downgrade than an upgrade. Then I was asked if I wanted to have breakfast in the restaurant by using the breakfast as my amenity. The first time I have had to use it using the weekend rate.

Now we used to stay at the Hilton quite frequently but I left Hilton about 20 years ago so my memory of the rooms and lounge are a bit hazy. But I really didn't think much had changed.

We had a little rest and at 1730 up to the lounge for drinks and canapes. that next.
