Status Run Options ex HKG

Hello,

I'll be based in HKG for the next couple of months, and I'm hoping to make some visits to surrounding cities while I'm here.

The thread below highlighted a good value status run (TPE-xHKG-MNL) and it got me thinking that there may be a few more opportunities to rack up some SCs while exploring the region at the same time (albeit on quick trips).

Not many options from HKG, unfortunately. The most glamorous option would be TPE-xHKG-south east Asia on CX. Some variations would include taking 3K to SIN, and travel around on 3K starter plus fares from there. They aren't very good at earning SCs but they can be pretty cheap and they'll get you the squiggles and status bonus frequent flyer points.

Your best options is the business class fares out of Taipei that connect through Hong Kong. But often Cathay do have business class specials from HK to other asian cities such as Bangkok or Singapore, keep an eye out for those.

Any fare ex TPE is pretty good, including to the middle east.
