Current status review date is listed for 28 Feb and I do plan to take an overnight flight on the evening of 28th that would otherwise requalify for VG - my only question is whether the VAFF boffins will say the flight doesn't qualify given that I don't disembark the flight until the 29th. I would think it's the departure date that matters - anyone care to shed any insight on this?

Correct. The departure date is what will be listed on your Velocity statement.

It's based on the departure date. However, the terms and conditions contradict themselves, in my view.

Review Date: the last day of your Benefit Period.

On each Review Date, if you still meet the eligibility criteria for a Status level, you’ll maintain that Status level for a further Benefit Period after the Review Date

So one line implies the 28th would count towards retaining, the other line implies you need a departure on the 27th for retention and the 28th counts towards the following year's review.
