Hi All,

Question on Status expiration, I'm pretty sure how it works but i would like to confirm:

and I will use me as an example:

My Status expiry date is the same as a calendar year, i.e. 31 December.

Last year, 2009 I fell just short of SG and am a PS.
This year, 2010 I have already gotten PS regained, and will hit SG next week and then WP in June if I am lucky.

So that means that the year 2011 I will be a WP? or is it only for the remained of 2010?
And then from there if I didn't re-qualify I would drop down to SG, then down to PS and then NB? each year dropping a level?

cheers

Ryan

Once you hit WP, you remain WP for the rest of the current QF year and then you get a full year to requalify, if you dont you soft land to SG. Hit it this year and you are looking at SG for 2012 worst case. Its a good reason to maximise the double SCs promo for those that qualify and shoot for WP.

cool, i guess thats another good reason why getting WP is a good idea, its basically a 2 for 1 deal. :)

You will be a WP for the remainder of your current membership year (ie the rest of 2010), plus all of 2011 until your anniversary date. If you don't re-qualify next year then you will drop down one level, ie to SG, at the beginning of your 2012 year.

Perfect post for the question I had!

So if possible qualify for WP status as soon as possible after your FF anniversary date ticks over, thus giving you max time to a) enjoy your new status and b) re qualify

True for (a), not for (b).

Everyone gets 12 months to requalify. Qualifying faster only lets you enjoy your benefits for a greater length of time.

Your status credits balance is reset to 0 at the start of a new membership year. When this happens, you then have 12 months to requalify for the status you had at the end of the previous membership year (i.e. build up the necessary SCs to hit the requalification target for your status level).

You still only get 1 year to re-qualify no matter how early in your year that you get to WP.

I agree - the only benefits to requal early is the peace of mind of knowing you have the benefits for an extra year and the opportunity to flick the remainder of flights to another program if that can give better earn/burn ratios.

Where the "quick requal" is relevant is if one can engineer a SC maximising A/DONEx across your qualifying point so that you maximise the return on investment in the A/DONEx.

As others have said not quite true...

Lets say your QF Year starts on Feb 1. Say this year you qualify for WP by May 4 2010. You will have WP status and access until Jan 31 2012. However only the flights taken between Feb 1, 2011 and Jan 31 2012 will count towards retaining that status.

Flights you take between now and Jan 31 2011 will not count towards re-qualifying for WP\. It will simply add SC's into your pool which will expire on Jan 31 2011.
