Status 'earned' on date flown or when credited?

Hi all

Hoping that someone's previous experience my shed light on this issue.

I'm flying J on a VA ticket SYD>AUH>BRU>AUH>SYD on a combination of EY and VA metal in the two weeks leading up to my review date in September. I think I arrive back in Sydney about 9 days before my review. I'm currently Gold and should reach Platinum after these flights.

I read variously about times ranging from a couple of days to weeks/months for EY earns to come through. Even on the VA metal leg they say wait 7 days for crediting.

Wondering if status review takes into account these delays? IE if it takes weeks for the EY metal legs to get credited will they post-date these to count towards the increased status in the review period in which they were flown?

The word 'earned' in the T&Cs is I suspect deliberately vague. Is it earned when you flew it - or when they credit it?

In a related query - does anyone know if VA ticketed legs on other carriers metal get credited any quicker (acknowledging that a lot of this seems like pot luck from what I read on various threads).

Thanks in advance.

In my experience, status is earned from date credited

IME, VA will treat the status credits (SCs) as being earned on the flight date, regardless of when they actually show up in the account.

I'd been chasing a missing Virgin America flight from March (my review date is 30 April), and when the flight finally showed up in June (this month - after a fair bit of pestering haha), the SCs did not contribute to the "Status Credits earned since 30 Apr 2012" count, though they did contribute to my "status credit balance" total.

In other words, if, before the end of your membership year, you earn the required number of SCs to advance to Platinum, you will be Platinum (even if the flights don't show up in your account until after your review date has passed). If you are advancing to Platinum through the "status credit balance" method instead of the membership year method, the flight will still be treated as earned on the travel date for these purposes. So, once the flights have appeared in your account, just wait a day or two and the system should re-evaluate your account and automatically move you to Platinum. If this doesn't happen after a couple of days have passed since the flights were credited, just give VA a call, and they should be able to manually correct your account.

To give you an example, here's how my Virgin America flight appeared online (noting that the travel date was March):

I had a similar issue. Took a flight to move me to gold if status posted in a few days, but by the time the Virgin America status credits credited a month later other status credits expired so my total was not enough to go to gold. I had to call up to get it sorted. They did it once it was escalated to a manager as the first person did not understand the issue.
