Hi all, About to book a multi ticket on JAL...... SIN - KIX - HND - SIN. My question is, do I get Status credits for this flight if I book via the JAL website and enter my QFF details, it will be via JL flight numbers. I tried to book on the QF site but it only allows Reward Point bookings. Do the status credits only get awarded on QF Flight numbers or will these JL Flights do the job.
Cheers for that people, thanks in advance

Thanks for that, I did look at the calculator, but it does not have a JL option for the SIN - KIX leg of the flight.....hence added to my confusion, It only shows 3K...... Jetstar Asia flights, although the HND - SIN does show the JL option......as well as BA and QF

JAL don't operate SIN-KIX, is it not SIN-(NRT/HND)-KIX ? Can you post a screenshot of the actual itinerary?

Just thought I'd also point out that Qantas awards status credits on a sector by sector basis. Hence it can be advantageous to include routings with additional stops, especially if you also want to sample sushi at the various Sakura Lounge.

To your point and as a general rule, for any airline that is part of an alliance, you should be able to book directly with them and it credit to other member programs in the alliance - there is no need to book with the airline you have status for and often it can be disadvantageous to do so since plating rules are often not in the traveller's favour (the only notable exception is Air Canada and United). So to give you specific examples from the standpoint of Qantas, book your American Airlines flight with AA, your British Airways flight with BA, your Japan Air flight with Japan Air or even your FinnAir flight with FinnAir. So long as your QF frequent flyer is plugged in, you'll earn the status credits and milage.

The only caveat is airlines that are not part of the alliance (i.e. OneWorld) but that have a partnership with the airline. For instance, Emirates is not a member of any airline alliance but Emirates has a partnership with Qantas. If you were to book an Emirates flight directly with them, you'd only earn Qantas points (no status credits). However, if you book the same Emirates flight with Qantas (and it has a QF flight number) you'd also earn status credits.
