Updates...

Getting ready to leave this coming Saturday... Can not wait.

Got myself pre-selected 20A and 20B (myself and the wife) for the VA11 and VA8 flights... Everything else I will just deal with as it happens.
Quite happy with the seat selection, and Virgin was more then accomodating with allowing me to have these seats... Its a lot easier to deal with Insulin injections when you dont have someone reclining in front of you.
Also hoping that there may not be that much foot traffic past/around me being the first row of econ... the toilets etc are all behind where we are seated.

Picked up a set of Sennheiser CX300-II in ear noise isolating headphones for this trip too, seem pretty decent so far.

ESTAs are done which is basically the only other thing I needed to have done, did these a couple of weeks ago.

Fingers crossed for an op-up (which doesnt look likely as Y is nowhere near full).

Any thing else I could've forgotten??? LOL

Cheers

Terrence.

I'll be interested in hearing your experiences with respect to the gold medallion status when flying DL inside the US. I'm intending to apply for the status challenge for a trip of my own to the US in July. I've given up on being able to allocate points/SCs to Velocity if I do get matched and use that status, but the domestic US flights comprise such a small part of the overall itinerary that I'll be happy to throw them away if it means something a bit better in terms of seats etc. on those flights. If I allocated all my VA flights on this trip to DL then I'd be able to meet the challenge and retain gold medallion (or maybe even platinum, if I choose a route that's about 500 miles longer!) under the terms of the status challenge but in practice there's probably not much point. Especially since it would mean almost certainly mean dropping back from Velocity plat to gold!

Enjoy your trip.

Delta or V America within the U.S? V America in business is FAR superior. No contest. Only caviat is if you route LAX-ATL-MCO and use the Delta 777 with the flat beds then DL may be a better fit. But if comparing nonstop to nonstop, V America

Seconded. Flew Delta for several internal flights in the US at the end of last year - they are nothing to write home about. In one case, the plane was filthy - seemed like it hadn't been cleaned in a couple of days, there was crud all over the floor under the seats - and in all cases the planes were old and not particularly nice. Food and drink were cough too.

Not much I can do about it now lol...

Delta fits better for this trip... next time I might consider V America

So have been Florida for a week now. Just about over theme parks but the wife is loving it!

Interesting trip so far. Full plane in econ from BNE to MEL. Empty business an no one was shifted forward?
V aust to LAX was great, we scored the newly refurbed 773 ( and yes the seat fabric in econ looks like cough lol) but had 20A/B which are top seats. Great service too.

Delta wasn't terrible so no complaints there. Just waiting for points to come
across now from velocity.

Got my next delta legs coming up on Monday morning will be interesting to see the service difference as a gold medallion
