Any ideas if there is a pattern to velocity offering a Double SC promo?
I need to book some flights for the family from Canberra to QLD for 2020 and I will need double SC or similar to get me over the line to getting back to Gold which would be great for our trip to the USA in 2021.

Also, I know I don't get SC when booking using points, but what about using a voucher? I'm assuming it is treated like a cash booking but just wanted to be sure.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

With VA, if you want the SC, you must do P+P, any award or reward booking, you get zilch.
Yes, I know, there are some on here who say P+P is a waste of points utilisation.
At the final stage, of the booking, at the paying of the booking stage, where you normally enter your credit or debit card details, it will ask you if you want to pay part with points, only there will you get any SC, (apart from the actual SC earnt per sector flown that is)
Another tip is, if you can, buy the majority of your groceries from Coles, ensuring you have your FB number linked to VFF, the SC can build up, even a bit, 1 VFF SC per $100 spent, over a year, it can be 12 SC, it could be more.
You can also pool SC as well, so you can have 1 FB card for yourself, and another FB card for the other half, so if you spend $2000, you could get 20 VFF SC.
I have not had any double/bonus VFF SC offers of late, either of via VFF or FB.

The offering has traditionally been irregular, frequencies have varied.

Aust FF reporting speculated earlier this year that they would be discontinued.

Thanks for the input.
We do almost all our Grocery shopping at Coles and have our Flybuys linked. It is actually how I got gold many years ago in the first place, they had some "try gold" offer and I was able to keep it for a few years before dropping to Silver. I'd like to get back to Gold before my DD turns 2 so I can use a pregnancy pause to keep it for longer and get our two USA trips while on Gold in 2021 and maybe end of 2020 - helps with luggage and of course the lounge.

I didn't know that you could get SC by using P&P. That's something to keep in mind. Do you get the full amount of SC or just part?

Yes, full amount of VFF SC, same as if you were paying the full lot if you he fare in $.
((Note, as I mentioned, some on here don't like it as its seen of or to he a poor rate of return)).

If you can afford it, also go for Elevate and not Getaway.
All depends on your circumstances of course.
EconX does not earn you any bonus SC, neither dies an Opup.
You could phone VA up and buy a Comfort Seat or as VA calls it an extra seat, 3 seats for 2 adults and tot, you will get SC as in the extra seat, plus your own.
Not sure how old your tot is, and if
VA will allow lap seat if plane's fully booked.

DSC has in recent years been late Jan / early Feb, and this year there was another one in mid-May.

Of course this is no guarantee. And it could be open, or targeted.

Thanks, I have a voucher that needs to be used by Mid April. Was hoping for something before I have to use it.

Keep in mind, Delta lounge access for SG or WP is only 1 guest- kids count as 1 guest. Ive been knocked back numerous times by DL lounge asking to get my young kids in. Ive only had 2 occasions where they've let them in along with my partner.

Another thing: long winded reply.
Noting that P+P for some on here is a nono.
In regards to VA, for bookings, assuming you have a lot of points in your VFF account, and you want to use P+P to get the relevant VFF SC.
Lets say you have (assuming) 350,000 VFF points, and have been accumulating it for a "long time".
If you go into the Virgin booking system via ***www.velocityfrequentflyer.com*** (don't need a link there), you will see, "use points, part of full, pay fare in points and cash for taxes/fees", do not enter your booking here if you do want the VFF SC.
If you use this one, you will not get any SC, its a pure award/reward seat.
You need to go into the Virgin booking, via ***www.virginaustralia.com*** (don't want a link), where you will see fare, eg, to LAX for eg, Aud$19xx.xx, enter via this way.
Then, at the payment stage, near the end, you will see, it will ask you if you want to pay with points, in this scenario, you will get the VFF SC in the booking.

OK so this is what I have done, I actually created another thread today when I should have just come back here to ask. I want to book Canberra to Bundaberg and use P+P, I have been quoted around 35,000 points and around $280 to do this (2A and 2C tickets)
I chose Reward Seat and then at the end used the slider bar to go way down in the points etc. This was the lowest amount I could use.
Now before I actually book, you're saying that I WILL get the SC for this flight? because the person in my other thread said I won't.
FYI, I did it via virginaustralia . com not the FF site

By choosing reward seats you will earn zilch.
No points, no SC.
Don't believe me, wait and see.
You need to have $ value in the fares coming down the booking stage.

Go in via Virgin Aust website.
Don't tick use points.
Then you will see $399 for fare per person, accept that.
Enter pax data, go to payment stage, tick use points where you see above or below credit or debit card signs, where it warns you will be charged a fee for using by card.
If P+P used, polipayments can't be partly used either.
Must be credit or debit card if P+P used.

Last one from me on this, if you want VFF points and VFF SC that is.
If neither is important, than ticking use P+P box on first page of VA booking page is OK to do.
Sorry Mods, will keep quiet on this one from now.
