If you were SG, WP or WP1 on the day before your FF anniversary and you were flying the day after, would you be denied access to the QP if you fallback on Bronze or Lifetime Silver?
Is the attendant going to deny you access to the QP even though you had the status to enter just the day before? If so this seems in a major pitfall in loyalty for Qantas.

Currently i am PS but am hoping to get SG when i fly in September though i think i may just miss out and was wondering if this would happen to me, anyway it is good enough for a seventeen year old i guess.

Where's the pitfall? The day your membership ends is the day your membership ends, and so does the perks that come with it.

You get a minimum of one year to enjoy the status you've earned and when it expires, it expires. QF do have a slow drop where you drop to the tier below if you don't requalify, eg. WP->SG, SG->PS. And someone else needs to confirm this, when you fall from SG to PS I do believe you get 3 months of QP access or 3 months to join with the joining fee waived.

It is a shame that you can qualify for a higher tier status that took you all year to acquire only to fall all the way back overnight.

You keep your status for a minimum 1 year. eg. Assuming your membership year ends Dec, if it took you from 1 Jan 2012 to 31st Dec 2012 to qualify you'll keep status until 31st Dec 2013, just as I did.

I do not quite understand the question.

If you are currently Silver and may qualify Gold by the time your anniversary comes around then you are Gold for 12 months. If you do not qualify for Gold by the time of your anniversary and will get there 2-3 days after your anniversary then that is tough luck.

If you were Gold and did not qualify for Gold by the time your anniversary came around then you will hold Gold status for a couple of days after your anniversary just in case there were flights that had not yet posted. In a lot of these cases Qantas gives 2-3 months Qantas Club membership anyway to help wean you away from the status lifestyle or at least hope you will purchase Qantas Club membership instead.

I qualified for PS on the 30th of April 2013 and my anniversary is on the 30th of September, does this mean that i will retain PS until the 30th of April 2014? If so I assume this does not mean you have this extra time to acquire more SC.

I have just checked the Qantas site and now realise fully how the program works and it is much better than i had first imagined. I though that at your anniversary every year your status was reassessed meaning that you could obtain SG the day before your anniversary and not have time to use its privileges. This clarifies a lot thank you guys.

This means your PS status doesn't expire until 30th of September 2014. You have between 30th of April and 30th of September to earn the 700SC required (of which you already have 300) to qualify SG. If you do manage to qualify SG before 30th of September you'll keep SG until 30th of September 2014 (your anniversary date).

For the record, QF usually take ~3 days after your status review date to drop you down, so given the scenario you gave, you would still likely have that access (albeit later in 2014). :)

As mentioned you have plenty of time to attain Gold.
