G'Day everyone. I have just done the sums and I am going to fall 20 sc short of gold the day before my points are due to expire (30th Nov), assuming that my sc for that flight count to this year. I had read somewhere that Qantas occasionally allows a short time extension if you have further travel booked? I am due to fly again on the 13th of Dec....If this is the case is it worth the risk to see if it is offered or should I just bite the bullet and organise a run?

Cheers.

How many SCs did you get over the last three years, are you borderline or just having a tough year?

Hi howie_oz, no Qf don't allow extra time to attain the SCs but they have occasionally been known to comp you status for another year if your previously history deems it worthwhile to them.

However, for 20 SC you're better off doing a quick status run somewhere to ensure you retain your status and save your one off comp for a year when you're very short.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

In that case I would recommend on planning not to get a comp and do a quick run, which is problematic in WA
Find the cheapest Jetstar flight you can on a Friday and pay the extra for the points bundle
Should get 20-30 SC's
