Guys,

Thinking of joining the Starwood Privilege program (mostly for the buy one get one free meals) due to an upcoming family trip with lots of SPG bookings.

Can anyone suggest the price and types of things I should be angling for getting if I contact them directly. I gather each hotel can see these individually but was going to contact the privilege people directly. I gather from other forums there is a fair bit of latitude in what you can get and what price you pay to join?

All ideas/comments appreciated

Hi,:D
Standard annual membership is $289.00,ring 1300723402
for more information, I have been a member for 15 years and
there have been some changers over that time, but it works for me.

Regards Gary.

Been a member for a number of years. Am not aware of individual hotels selling the product, felt it was all co-ordinated through the Privilege office.
My last renewal was at $289, not aware of discounting from this price, unless a number of packages were bought.
Make sure you joing Starwood Preferred Guest also to get points from hotel stays, and meals bought.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks for info. Already an SPG member.

What sort of certificates etc do they give? The website is pretty limited and I've found a couple of resellers who seem to have varying numbers of 50% off, upgrade certs etc.

Also found this org that has a 20% discount so I imagine they have some flexibility on pricing if you push them: MFAA - Member Benefits

Negotiated introductory offers aren't hard to come by for lots of things. Looking around though, 20% off is about as far as it seems to go, and then only for the first year.
