Reservation for this Thursday at the W already shows an upgrade to a Marvelous Suite. A bigger suite than last time. :D

For those staying at the W over a Sunday, they have Sunday brunch for HKD590 12-3. Includes all you can eat, and more importantly all you can drink Perrier Jouet. :D Advanced reservations recommended as it's v popular. DJ Angus also spins tunes all Sunday arvo. :)

Will put up pics of my "Glamourous" Marvelous Suite when I get around to updating my TR. :)

damn you ;)

Which suite would be the select std upgrade for plt?

Fantastic Suite (the one i got last time). I was told that when there are more PLTs than there are select standard suites, they'd upgrade some PLTs to Marvelous Suites. Failing that, it's first in best dressed and some unlucky peeps will get Cool Corner Rooms.

And there are 2 different designs. One by a Japanese designer themed Glamourous, the other by an Australian company G+A. The last stay I had G+A. Glamourous is more sedate, more of a family room whilst G+A is defo a party room - much more dramatic and hip.

Thanks for that, sounds wicked!

(now I need to find some $$$$ so I can book)

A suite and only HKD1650++! That is seriously good work.

Looking forward to the photos and review.

Alas, this peep did end up with a cool corner room:(. But it was a very minor issue on what was possibly my best hotel stay ever.

Just about to check-out & head to the airport. I'll report more fully when back home.

The W best available rates are like close to 3000HKD+++

Seriously that is alot of $$$$ especially that amount will get you into many 5* establishments.

Oh well, now lets hope for some C&P stays appear soon.

Only 12k Starpoints/night for redemptions though.

And HKD3k is quite normal for 5* hotels in HKG like you've pointed out, and damn good value for an ultra luxe one like the W. Their regular BARs are HKD3550/night for Wonderful Rooms from memory.

I will be checking out the W tomorrow night in HKG :D

I hope you enjoy the West Kowloon Wonderland. Say hi to Alison for me.

Next time try Friday night, the DJing is much better on Friday night. :)

Should be good, i am looking forward to it. Not often i get to stay at a W but rates seem ok there at the moment compared to some HKG hotels, even on Saturday nights the book out a lot of hotels.

Friday night would be nice however on this trip the route is only flown 3 days a week by KA so rather not a lot of choice.

Well, i am going to say that new W in HKG is a great hotel !
Easy to get to, fastest to just take the train to Kowloon station and the hotel is sort of right above.

I went form the airport to the hotel and never left, just chilled out in the lounge, DJ playing of course but not to loud, great room, love the design.

Its a rather bright hotel, you sort of get blinded in the lifts and reception with the led/lcd panels.

I think QF009's review is going to be better than anything i can right, but a big thumbs up from me on the new W in HKG :D

The W is an extremely good hotel, and will certainly be my hotel of choice for the near future when in HK. Thanks again QF009 for twisting my arm! As I quickly alluded to above, I cannot think of a better hotel stay to this point in my life.

The initial concerns about location were quickly dispelled. As mentioned, being situated on top of the Kowloon MTR means a very quick trip to the Island, and the Airport Express. TST is only a 15 minute stroll, and there is a free shuttle leaving every 30 minutes offered by the hotel. It may be worth booking this ahead of time, as seats are limited. Regardless, taxis are cheap. Further, the Elements offers excellent shopping.

We also utilised the Audi Q7 fleet to and from the airport, which was a nice way to travel. Expensive though at 825HKD each way.

Having only stayed at one previous W (Dallas Victory), I don't have much to compare against, but a common theme is that it takes me a long time to work out how to do simple things e.g turning the lights on, finding the minibar, & finding the TV:oops:. Like trying to fiddle with a Mac after years of PC use - when you discover how it's done, you appreciate the ingenuity. Having said that, I found the decor here stunning.

The breakfast buffet in the Kitchen (250HKD) was a great mix of Western and Chinese influence, with great shrimp congee. The dim sum and pork buns are also brought around to the table for you to choose. The Kitchen also had some good simple fare for the evening meal. Fire, the other restaurant, is top-notch & overseen by a Kiwi. An entree of scallops & foie gras, followed by aged rib-eye, and a trio of brulees (black sesame was my favourite) was amply supported by a nice selection of wines by the glass.

As mentioned, I was upgraded to a Cool Corner Room, rather than a suite. Still very nice, but having seen some pictures of the suites, I am rather envious! After 6 nights in a suite on the 27th floor of the Westin market St, San Francisco (notorious for it's lack of platinum recognition), I will confess to being a tiny bit disappointed.

This is certainly a great hotel for those wanting a little bit of pampering, and prepared to pay for it. Bye, bye Sheraton!

Not the cheapest hotel, but actually there discount rates compare very well to other HKG hotels if they are a little busy.

Love the real blockout blinds and decent sound systems, not sure why anybody cares if its an IP phone when they still charge like a normal one. Love the bathrooms. Beds are comfy.

It is however a case of get what you pay for. (now to ask the boss for some more money next year... i think not somehow)

I see there is also one openeing or opened in IST, so could be well worth a look when i am there next year.

W Istanbul @ Suleyman Place. I'll be checking it out next month. :D

Sorry for being slow with TR updates, but I've been busy with house hunting and Christmas-related errands. Will try to get a few installments done today. :)

W Hong Kong
Austin Rd West

This property defo puts the W in WoWness, and is quickly becoming my favourite hotel of all time. I honestly could not imagine that my last stay could be topped in any way and my expectations were set sky high, but the W Hong Kong manages to continue to surprise and delight.

I'd originally booked this stay at the BAR of HKD3550, but at the last minute the incredibly fab value HKD1650 Opening Promo was launched which made it all the more sweeter, since the AUD isn't exactly hot stuff at the mo.

This time I got upgraded to a Marvellous Suite, one room category above what I got last time. I'd warned the hotel that I was arriving early due to a last minute itinerary change, and they'd promised that my room will be ready when I arrived. I'd also assured them that I was willing to wait in case my originally assigned room isn't available. I'd arrived at noon, way before the check in time - and sure enough a Suite was ready and waiting for me. My prior request for a room designed by Glamourous was also honoured. I was quite prepared to wait in the Living Room or spend time at Elements if the room wasn't ready rather than accept a downgrade but I was quickly ushered to my Suite - v impressive.

Having now stayed at both G+A (refer my last stay review or kluau88's review) and Glamourous, I found the G+A design far more to my liking - it's in your face, fetch, flirty, loud and above all - an outrageous PARTY room; Glamourous OTOH is more sedate and restful, too subtle, more a family sorta room for a quiet time.

Design aside, I was nonetheless v impressed with the Glamourous Marvellous Suite. It was expansive, with views of both the Harbour and partial views of the HK Island skyline (obscured partially by the ICC). kluau88 probably put it rather well in his review so there's not really much I can add and I'd let my pics of room #2911 do the talking.
