Ok, I couldn't resist but had to report back and confirm that this hotel is really really the WoW Hong Kong. I'll report back more in detail in my current TR however short and simple; great staff, funky Living room, enjoyable Friday/Saturday nights and my room was a smokin' Fantastic Suite'. Wow! 50inch plasma in the lounge with 5.1 surround sound. 42inch in the bedroom! Wow! and the Pool Deck?! Wow! More later though!

Sounds great Alan. Tempted to try the Hong Kong W later in the year. Hope you are doing lots of walking (hint, hint)

As I sit here in The Living Room one final time, sipping on a Mango Ginger Mojito from the W seasonal coughtail list - I daze under the transforming lights and setting of this sensory room, as the cool beats cool pip and pop, the ever increasing people grow within this room and the loudness picks up - some consider this HK style loudness rude but hey this is Hongkers after all - and the people naturally are loud & fast and without a care.

With my bags checked in downstairs at the Kowloon Airport Express only 3 minutes walk away from the front of the hotel - I'm happy to rewind and reflect on this most enjoyable hotel - knowing that time seperating me and the airport is a measly 20 minutes away on the train - beat that Sydney!!

The weather is grey, and the HK skies is pouring with rain and vividly miserable, but this is probably an imagery of the way I would feel the moment I walk out of the W doors.

In 11 hours or so, I'd be back home, back in my non-Wonderful bed. Guess all good things must come to an end. Talk soon, me from the W~!

Having said all that they're not doing too well due to the GFC and have been shedding lots of staff, including a favourite Whatever desk agent of mine.

The other half and I got upgraded to what's my favourite suite thus far at this W. Hot! I'll let the pics do the talking. Bathroom as per the one in the other Marvellous Suite design as previously posted.

We also booked the Feel the 'Wuv package for the fun of it, which includes free chocotinis, lots of chocs, an adults' version Spin the Bottle game amongst other things.

It was sad learning that some of our fave staff have left, but at the same time awesome meeting new faces and seeing old ones again. And alas Alison our favourite W Insider in the world wasn't in this time (as we were there for only a night on a transit stop), but it didn't stop her from organising us the usual platter of sweets and a sweet little note, and on top of that - a bottle of Perrier Jouet! I finally got to meet the Director of Rev Management who have been helping me behind the scenes via email all this time and we caught up over several drinks in the Living Room. And also, the new GM who caught us just as we were checking in. That was a rather nice touch I thought - it's cool seeing a hotel pay such attention to its repeat guests.

Special kudos also to the Welcome Desk for comping me a Wonderlust CD, after I'd mistakenly thought it's part of the Feel the Wuv package and hence paid for. And the poor Welcome Ambassador who kindly escorted the other half and myself, as well as our 3 massive suitcases to the ITCI counters.

We noticed that the staffing level in the Living Room has been reduced to more appropriate levels, and paradoxically it seems with less staff people were more attentive and efficient. The Living Room manager was a complete star - not only were we allowed to drink our free bubbles in the Living Room, he'd also shouted us some shots before we left.

Staying here at the tail end of a long trip was a bit like returning home. Unfortunately we've not got any visits to Honkers in the pipeline, so I'm going to miss the place - both the W HK and Honkers itself. But we're sure as hell trying our darnest to have another trip there sooner rather than later, if only to be back at our favourite home away from home again!

But the Whatever/Whenever magic didn't cease there. Somehow they'd tracked the other half and I down during a weekend at the Westin Melbourne. We were most surprised to get a welcome platter of mojitos and dessert carried up to our room by a Service Express agent, as being residents of Melbourne we aren't regulars at the Westin Melbourne by any means. There was a card addressed to us - when we opened it we found a rather cool note starting with "Well, Hello There..." (hardly Westin!) and realised that it's a surprise from our "friends at the W Hong Kong." Wow! Cheers guys!!

Come to think of it, it (that we were spending the following weekend at Westin Melbs due to SPG free nite certs) might have come up over a drunken convo down at the Living Room after a coughtail or 10.
