Hi,

I notice that you can only buy or have transfered to your account a maximum of 20,000 points per annum.

Any other strategies to get around this.

Basically I need to get some points to my Delta account and this seems the best option at the moment.

If one had a second account with SPG and transfered to the same delta account would this be kosher?

Any other ideas would be appreciated

Thanks All

You can transfer any amount from CCs to SPG.In Australia that means Amex or DC.
The limits are for buying and/or gifting. If that though is what you want it is probably not worth the risk.Though maybe another family member could get an account.

Sometimes you look too hard into things.

I completely forgot about the amex points transfer.

Definitely the way to go

Thanks drron

Can anyone please tell me how long points usually take to transfer from SPG to AA ?
I remember reading somewhere that they do a "sweep" twice a week ? Does anyone know on which days ?

Cheers.

Mine took a week so I am not sure about the twice a week thing.

My last transfer from Amex -> SPG -> AA took 5 days in total (in February).

According to a recent FT thread, the transfer happens every Wednesday AM US time.
But maybe its just random ?
That could well be the the case, though my experience reflects different day of the week. My transfer Amex->SPG was processed on a Wednesday (Aus time) according to the date shown on both Amex and SPG statements (same date shown on both). And SPG->AA was processed on a the following Monday according to both SPG and AA statements (same date shown on both).

FYI I had a family member transfer 50,000 SPG points to me earlier this year and it went through fine.

I did a transfer on Sat 22 March (which would have been Friday in the US) and the points were in my AA acount the next day.

Another data point - requested transfer tuesday afternoon and points in account sometime thursday night/early friday morning (Australian times).

This would work nicely for me this week. I've just booked two nights in NYC at the Westin Grand Central for 12,000 per night. The reservation is on hold for seven days. If I understand transfer rate from Amex to SPG, I'll need to move 48k miles.

Glad to hear of the quick transfers. I just put in a 20,000 (25,000) point transfer to my AA account and I noted it said to allow up to 4 weeks!

Yes but what they say to allow for and what it takes are not one and the same. Plenty of these arrangements (in general, not just SPG) say 4-6 weeks but post much faster, and some say 4-6 weeks and never post.

Dont forget Starpoints are on special for buying them.
