Is it possible to book, for example, AKL-SYD-HNL with QF but actually begin the journey in SYD (that is, not board in AKL)? Similarly, HNL-SYD-AKL, disembark (permanently) in SYD? No checked luggage is involved.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

No. You will be considered a "no show" at AKL and your is ticket probably gone

If you no-show any flight on your itinerary, most airlines will HX/Cancel every remaining sector and will refuse to check you in or board you on subsequent flights.

Cancelled flights aside, it would break the rules of the airfare which has a specified departure and origin.

With the second question pertaining to HNL-SYD-AKL, is AKL is your final destination, there's nothing to stop you from not utilising the SYD-AKL flight as there's no further sectors for the airline to cancel.

You can skip the last segment of the journey, and no-show but it is generally frowned upon. Not possible to skip the first segment, without the ticket being cancelled.

You may find that your baggage ends up going all the way to AKL though.

Thanks for that. I see now that I can't no-show the AKL-SYD leg but it may be possible to get off in SYD and not continue onto AKL on the return leg. (No checked baggage, so that would help.)
