I have flights booked for in a couple of weeks from BNE to BKK via MEL with JQ. I called today to get a price for an upgrade to *class an was quoted one way for 2 people from BKK to MEl a price of $2072 additional to the fare we had already paid. I queried them and asked for a special and ended up getting it for $200 per person per one way. i.e. $800 to upgrade for a return trip to BKK from BNE.

It certainly pays to ask for specials and the like as they were reluctant to offer it initially.

The staff also mentioned that this particular special would not last long, so if you are considering it, you might need to try NOW.

Good Luck

bigmal - Interesting. :) Where did you hear about the special? I couldn't see it on Jetstar's website.

(I'd call up, but I'd prefer to be a bit more specific with them when asking for "that special you guys have on" ;)).

Do you know if it includes HNL fares?

Cheers,
- Febs.

Sounds like JQ no different to any airline that has trouble selling premium seats (I'm not including QF, NZ, BA etc in this) by offering very cheap upgrades. I'd imagine you could also ask at check in and get an upgrade if there is still availability.

When I called they did not offer it until I asked for a special. Then they came back with this offer.

I then called back a short timer later and spoke with a new person. They asked me how I knew about the special, "was it an email offer". Obviously I said yes, as I thought this must have been the key to getting it.

My original fare was the cheapest you could get, as I bought them when they first went on sale. The whole trip for 2 only cost a total of $1798, *class incl taxes.

When I did upgrade there were no "change fees" imposed.

Good Luck
