Hi all,
My wife and I have just made our annual trip to Osaka to see her parents. ( Gold Coast to Osaka, Jetstar) We came over *class (promo fare) just to see what it was like, and had booked Jetsaver fare for the return trip. Halfway through our stay here we get a phone call from Jetstar to see if we would like to upgrade to *class for the return trip for an extra A$248.00 per person. We grabbed it. I was wondering if this is a common occurrance? Anyone have the same experience?

Yes thau have been doing it for about the past 6 months, usually offering it to every flight that has got about 10+ starclass seats left. But not everyone gets a call though, if your on the Do Not Call register, you will not get a call!

That's pretty interesting. I had the (now mistaken) impression that the DNC register only applied to cold calling. If a customer has given their airline permission for marketing would that override the DNC?

AFAIK they do give the permission out when people make bookings but i;m not too sure where that would be located the the T&C's.
Also the upgrading is in part cold calling anyway, even though people do have flights etc etc it's still trying to upsell and sell another product.
I think they decided to the the DNCR for a back-up as such and i guess just in case not call someone who would dispute the call (as im sure there would be those types of pple out there!)
Hope that made sense?!

Flying the same route for my honeymoon next week. If anyone from Jetstar wants to offer us the same deal WE'LL TAKE IT!

Give them a quick call and ask them, try and speak to a australian call centre worker as they seem to know a bit more of what is going on (may have to hang up a few times).
