Hi guys,

I have 50,000 star alliance (SA) points (i have 500k) expiring this march 2010. What are the best options available to me or is it just SIA to SIN? I have more to use if there are more exotic destinations such as Borocay or Hoikaido are available? I could position in for a status run like JohnK (assume more details available shortly John)

Want to go further than SIN, maybe HKG?

I know some of you guys will have been here before and I would appreciate your advice re SAA/Str Alliance/SIA redemption maximiation strategies?

thnxs for you help

I know that some people have been getting excellent value rewards by taking a trip to Hawaii. If you select a day when Air NZ doesn't operate to HNL then the most logical route is on United via LAX (or maybe SFO if you're a smooth talker), where you can have a stopover, depending on the rules of your program. So you get a trip to Hawaii with a stopover in LA, for the cost of just the trip to Hawaii. I'm not sure what Voyager's rules on stopovers are though. I know a few people have pulled this off with Diamond Club.

Of course this only works if you're in a city that United operates out of (SYD or MEL), otherwise it gets messy.
