I direct most of my CC rewards to QFF and redeem them for OW RTW tickets (like other AFFers I have found the 280,000 point J awards give best bang for your buck) but now that I have also accumulated a sizeable stash of ANZ rewards I thought it was time to investigate other options (primarily Star Alliance?) for long haul travel.

Started researching but impatience got the better of me and now I'm taking the lazy man's option of "phoning a friend" to see how other AFFers have best used their ANZ rewards. A significant problem seems to be comparing "apples with apples" because the redemption rates vary for Asia Miles, Kris Miles, Velocity & AirNZ both when converting from ANZ rewards and also when using them for flights. Throw *A into the mix (which I think is my preferred end point) and the options seem to increase exponentially (I prefer to pay for domestic flights so I'm really only interested in using points for international).

So:
Is *A comparable to OW regarding RTW awards where the points spend is capped?
Which FF program is best to direct my ANZ rewards to for *A RTW travel?
I also have plenty of Velocity points so, although VA isn't a *A member, is there some way of combining them with a *A member airline that is also a Virgin partner (i.e. Etihad, NZ or SQ) to use for *A redemptions? I realise this is probably wishful thinking but I've been surprised by the ingenuity of AFFers before...........
