My Equifax dropped to about 550 and i got knocked back for a couple of cards, about 5 yrs ago. Just got lazy.
Not sure what the actual score was but the definition was "HIGHLY likely to go bankrupt in the next 12 months"

I've now got that card to replace my St George card and what a good card it is despite the Virgin Money web site. Its good value and don't forget the 120,000 bonus points for signing up. Its gone up from 80,000 in May when I signed up.

Well, the Citi Prestige has a very good signup bonus (275,000 Citi points, worth 110,000 KrisFlyer miles). It has a $700 annual fee, but you also get unlimited Priority Pass lounge visits. The everyday earn rate isn't as good at 0.4 KrisFlyer/$1 (compared to Suncorp Clear Options Platinum at 0.5), but Citi's bonus points for certain spend categories are good if you're spending a lot at supermarkets, restaurants, petrol stations, airlines etc. Both have no caps on points earning.

Basically, I'd say go for Suncorp if you want a (much) lower annual fee at $129 and a better earn rate for things that aren't bonus categories on the Prestige. The sign-up bonus also isn't terrible at 120,000 Suncorp points, worth 40,000 KrisFlyer miles.

Go for the Prestige if you want Priority Pass and a better sign-up bonus.

2.5 Suncorp points = 1 KF mile, meaning 120k Suncorp points = 48k KF miles

Yup...no need to delay anymore now that we have ticked over into July. I just TFd all my StG Amplify points into KF bar 3000 Amplify points...so I can TF the remaining 3000 Amplify points (minimum TF amount) along with any points I earn b4 July 31

I haven't heard of them doing this, but can't hurt to ask - citing the devaluation as the reason you no longer want to keep the card. Let us know how you get on.

It isn't, but the point is probably moot.

NAB's plan is to shut down all Citi products in coming months (you can see their latest financial update to shareholders for details). Once that happens, I would think they'll shut down this loophole if not outright shut down all the cards and convert them to NAB products. The banks are on a crusade against points collectors at the moment, so I doubt the bean counters at NAB will allow this one to continue.
