Hi
Have booked economy on SQ A380. I originally selected seats 81K,H which is an exit row on upper level and we have paid extra for the privilege.

Now I've got a bit of time I'm researching on seat guru and I'm starting to question my choice and thinking of changing to seats 71AC, also exit row on upper deck

I read somewhere that the toilets directly in front of exit 71AC are for business use only and are roped off to prevent Economy pax using them, so there would be little to nil foot traffic to these toilets to Econ pax, hence we may change our selection to these seats.

If anybody is aware that this is correct could you please advise, as we do not want seats with others standing around in our foot space waiting to use the toilets, which would happen if Econ pax could use the toilets directly in front of row 71

Also, seat guru says 81KH have the tv monitors in the arm rest. Since 71AC are also exit row seats, where are the TVs located for these seats as there is no comments on seat guru of the tvs for these seats being in the armrest.

any advise would be much appreciated on exit seats 71AC over Exit seats 81KH

Correct Y toilets are at the rear of the cabin only, the entire upper deck is great and pretty much any seat would be excellent (excepting middles obviously)

I expect the IFE for 71AC will be in the armrest also:

I have only flown two sectors, and I thought 81 K/H was great. All you need is an extra blanket! From memory the FA sits in a jump seat opposite for take-off and landing, but after that you have most of the foot space to yourself as most Y toilet users gather a bit further back around 82/83. As Yohy says, the upstairs Y on SQ is very good, and I think beats the smaller section on QF hands down.

Thanks guys for the response and to 'yohy?!' for the picture of the upper section

Surely that's not the personal tv monitors mounted on the wall in row 71 for the pax sitting in that row ??
I might stick to my booked row 81K/H as row 71 A/C looks not as spacious with the divider angled in front of seat C

thanks also for the heads up of extra blanket needed, from reading reviews on seatguru I should also take a cushion for some extra padding. Read alot of complaints about the thinness of the seat cushioning in SQ A380 economy.

I have sat in these seats and they were J only loos and despite what some may think, J pax's poop does smell.... quite badly on that flight. Didn't have the same problem on the way back, thankfully.

I don't remember the monitors as I don't turn them on/pay attention to them generally. I also didn't find the seat uncomfortable, got about 5hrs sleep by memory.

No. The monitor is required to show the safety demonstration as the individual armrest monitors will need to be stowed during taxi.

Row 71 is a lot quieter and more private than Row 81 as it faces onto Business Class (hence the curtain, which is a lot further away than the photo makes it look, so not a problem). The TV screens are in the arm-rest. Personally, I'd take 71 A/C over Row 81 any day of the week.....

Thanks to all for the feedback, I've Just changed booking to row 71.

no issues with the seat cushioning in Y either when i flew a few weeks back

im sure itll be a great flight - enjoy the service in Y: hot towels, pre-meal singapore slings and excellent A380 upper deck cabin

The only other thing I'd add is that I've had several flights on the SQ A380 where I've booked upper-deck exit row seats, only for SQ to subsequently swap out the aircraft for their v2 A380 which has an all-Business upper deck. This usually happens (if at all) several weeks or more before the flight, leaving me with a mad scramble to secure a replacement lower-deck exit row seat......

So.... you probably be fine, but if you don't want to take any risks, it may be worth looking at a lower deck exit row seat instead.

thanks for the tip, however there are currently no exit row seats avail on the lower level.

However, when SQ have changed their aircraft from a V1 to a V2 A380 after you have booked an upper deck exit row, how have you become aware of the aircraft change ?

They should e-mail you. Occasionally I've spotted it first if my timing happens to be just right as my seat allocation for that leg was blank when I went onto the website to Manage My Booking.
