Hi all,

Have finally collected 123K miles so I can finally book another business flight after a year of collecting to head to IST.

The flights for July are showing as waitlist for the flights all the way to IST as Business Saver.

Is there a better change of the flights being confirmed on SQ232 as it's a A380 as it would have more seats and the timing of the flights?

I have already flown on 773, 772 and A380 so a 773ER would be my first time. Does anyone know if the 772 they use for their IST flights have finally been updated?

Or do I skip IST and just fly to DXB like I did last time and get connecting flights to SKP which is my end point since the metal they use to DXB is better?

Any guidence?

Thanking you in advance.

The 772 to IST has the Diamond seats so that's all good. Can't go wrong there. Also very good value in terms of KF miles into Europe.

77W (777-300ER) and A380 have identical seats. I'm fairly sure that (Cruiser will correct me here) the same number of award seats are released for each flight, so a larger aircraft shouldn't make a difference. That said, I'd go with the A380 simply because it'll be a quieter flight. Those 77Ws are noisy!

The A380 and some of the 300ERs have identical business class seats. Some of the 300ERs have the new business seat, which is the old seat on steroi_s. If guaranteed a 300ER with thr new seat, I would definitely take that over the A380.

Actually, yes you're right – the new 77W seats win any day. Is there an updated list of flight numbers these aircraft are on?

Thanks I'm travelling on SQ222 in July and funnily got a text today announcing a flight changes to the 77W

If there is one thing I've learned in the past few months - its to not drastically change flight plans just to try and get specific equipment. Out of 5 award flights I booked in August - 3 have changed already / downgraded aircraft.

Was just talking about this is a previous post where my SIN-MEL flight has just been downgraded to a regional J set up 2-2-2 business instead of the 1-2-1 lie flat bed I originally booked. Flight is in April next year. I will apparently be contacted re: options early next year. I really want a lie flat bed, and would be willing to change designation to Sydney to 'guarantee' this. Any advice on how to do it, they were very unhelpful at the call centre!

There is never a "guarantee". SQ 227 SIN-MEL has been using the 77WN - can you search the dates you want and see if SQ227 has availability, otherwise ask to be waitlisted. Have you searched to see if there is any J saver seats open SIN-MEL for the dates you want? I'm guessing they would be waitlisted by now but you never know, I just saw wide open availability on some random dates in April. You could try HUAC and see if you get a more sympathetic agent, but AFAIK they're only obligated to get you from A to B in business class, no matter the configuration. Again, there's no guarantee equipment won't change yet again. Personally, if it was a day flight, I'd still be happy with regional J layout as opposed to having to transit through SYD.

Transiting through SIN from Maldives so am on the overnight SQ237 at this stage hence the annoyance at the change. I should mention its an award booking too. Don't think we can make 227 since we land at 2035 and that departs at 2120.

What's HUAC? ...any point in physically going into the booking office in Melbourne to try and sort something out?

HUACA: hang up and call again

No point at all - if it's an award booking you will need to call SQ/KF call ctr if you want assistance - 02 8228 1188 is best number to call.
