Via SMH Travel, reporting on a recent Roy Morgan survey. It seems that in the mess of airline surveys and the lack of transparency, inability to prevent rigging of results, etc, we might at least have one survey which compares apples with apples.

Travellers' Check
Air NZ king of the creek ... for now
May 03, 2010

The research company Roy Morgan begs to differ with many other polls for international airlines flying to and from Australia. Every year, Singapore Airlines cleans up the awards for Australia’s favourite international airline - and that’s no surprise.

For decades, SIA has invested its reputation not only in a comparatively young fleet and its version of the latest in-flight entertainment (Krisworld), but also a super-attentive style of cabin service that keeps its Australian customers coming back.

However, Morgan has found that Australians’ rating of SIA is actually pipped by Air New Zealand in its International Airline Satisfaction survey. Why is this?

Interesting reading...

I do wonder where it will sit once their A320's are Y only. At least they still provide TT service to \ from AKL on wide bodies with Y+ \ J...

I personally believe that AirNZ provides a better TT service than QF. Can't comment on EK \ LA \ JQ.

I didn't notice the extra 2" of pitch in Y which AirNZ has on its fleet. (At least I didn't notice it on its B767's or B777's).

There are so many statistical / sampling issues with ALL these surveys I tend not to believe any of them.

Besides, more fun to form your own impressions first-hand..... :)

I tend to agree with you docjames when it comes to surveys and the accuracy of the results published.

I am also a firm believer in forming my own impression first hand.
