SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

The '24 hour' thing for TPR is based on reports on Flyertalk - people have been readmitted for a flight the next morning. (I have no personal experience though - indeed my first time flying SQ F is next week!).

As for the 'same flight' rule, it's not clear if it's only the arrival flight or the subsequent departure flight is also covered. Only way to find out would be to ask I suppose...
I have on numerous occasions arr in R or F - visited TPR and advised Manager on Duty that I was heading into SIN for the night then coming back next morn to depart in J - I have always been granted access back into TPR next morn for b/fast b4 dep - so follow this same process and you should be good to go.

As for guests I cannot help with that as over the years rarely have I ever guested into lounges in SIN.

SQ Upgrades

Once you hv yr flt/s booked most will know you can go into 'manage yr booking' and attempt to upgrade - by using points, paying a cash difference, or waiting until 72 hrs prior (upto min 9 hrs) to departure to try 'purchase my SQ upgrade' . I havnt done the last one ( $$ bid), but I have mucked around with the first 2 options a few times, and offer some advice:

Recently booked J to Europe (Biz flexi, C bucket) and later tried to upgrade. 'Yes' says the website, for only $3k you can bump yrself up from J to F for the main 2 legs SIN to & from EU. Sure, I'll have some of that, best SIN lounge access, 13 hrs up the pointy end, great service, good wine and somebody to tuck me into bed.

So I went ahead, paid the $ - but when the confirmatory SQ email arrived I find I hv re-booked myself in J (in Z class Biz lite), and lost my original seat selection. It took 2 weeks for this to be sorted, which involved SQ refunding the full fare and thankfully holding original seats until I recieved the refund and could pay again. CCard fees were not reimbursed..

I hv some FF seniority with SQ but was astounded at some of the early responses that said I would be liable for any change in airfares while we waited.
What was never said in any of these multiple SQ svc centre calls say this was an IT issue..

So be careful to check before you press 'upgrade' !
