I like that the crockery SQ used has a lip on the plate @SYD @MEL_Traveller so less chance of spill.

It looked like it had spilled but those high plate sides caught it!

But yes, the shape is probably a good idea.

QF is doing a tasty prawn pasta dish but doesn’t work well on a flat plate. Something more like a bowl would be so much better.

Exactly my point and feedback to Qantas for decent/ appropriate crockery on QF40 last month @SYD


Crew agreed after I suggested even a bowl is easier, there is a reason pasta plates were invented!

First Class crockery they have a dish exactly like this.

In Business Class, the closest equivalent is this dish, (SQs own marketing image), they have them in the Changi SKL, unfortunately on board it seems quite rare they use this dish to serve meals. I have seen it in other people’s pictures and YouTube’s but as said it’s definitely rare.



Honestly the presentation of your dish in Business Class seems depends on the crockery they decide to use. If they serve on the round dinner plate seems they definitely put in more effort. In the other hand it seems all but guaranteed presentation it will be lacklustre if you get the very common square dish with the outer lip, I have never seen a meal nicely presented on this dish. Here’s how my BTC Waffles was served for me on a breakfast between Singapore and Melbourne:

Agree with Waffles/omelette on a plate, though for me, anything with a runny sauce/gravy/curry etc I feel should have a lip if airborne @Xtrap2.0
Compared to QF presentation, SQ is ahead.
