SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

True… but… i could virtually recite the SQ menu… a cold seafood starter,
No you've really started me, as a non seafood eater!

I don't know what's happened in the last 5-6 years, but there whole approach is completely devoid of any imagination. Dull and soul-less. Their F lounge menu is the same, it barely ever changes, and is rather boring as well. Although credit where credit is due, they do now serve coughtails all day at SIN F lounge, before the bar didn't open until 6pm.

I think they pay the most attention and save their best for LHR & SYD (in terms of outstations). Cash cows I guess.

SQ256 BNE-SIN 28 July 26
The latest update to BTC ex-MEL/BNE/PER/ADL is pathetic. Truly penny pinching pathetic.

Plus half of the options are seafood which is too bad so sad for those of us who don’t enjoy seafood.

So their esteeemed catering now consists of
- seafood congee
- stir fry prawns
- barramundi in black bean sauce
- a burger
- a chicken salad
- beef tenderloin
I’m on SQ256 today. And yes very seafood heavy in general, so glad I’m more a seafood eater.

I did select for the inflight menu instead. The lamb rogan josh was good enough. They accidentally sent the beef in red wine first which I thought looked different for an Indian meal… had a taste of the meat and yup not lamb. It tasted fine too. The steak across the aisle looked good. Pink meat.

If only one can get the same tuna salad bowl for the meals on IYKYK instead of that green vinegrette leaf. It was light healthy and tasty.IMG_2374.jpegIMG_2375.jpegIMG_2376.jpegIMG_2394.jpeg

@dajop Maybe this is more up your alley. It’s very good. Melt in your mouth Miyazaki wagyu satay to go with fantastic red. Just the right amount of minerality and complex notes to balance the rich fat.

Did you get a pic of yourself sitting up at bar in SKL F T2? It’s so beautiful is it not?
No I did not. I agree. It’s way better than t3

To be fair, the salad on Qantas is intended as a palate cleanser, not a full salad. They can do more substantial salads, for example on TT services and in PEY.
I was more thinking when they offered that in the business meals in trans-Tasman or domestic for lighter meals with a bit more tuna. I’d be happy

They do, but it’s on rotation and not always offered. I had a poached chicken salad MEL-SYD a few months ago with a Japanese dressing. It was intended as a main option and was just right.

Data point. TPR. Lunch until 6pm. Dinner from 6pm.
