SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

1A or 1F in F?
1A in R or another?
Anything to avoid on the menu? Im down to the following leaning towards the ones in bold:

MEL-SIN
Inflight menu: Slow Braised Beef Cheek with Red Wine Sauce, or Steamed Snapper Fillet with Fragrant Ginger and Garlic Sauce
BtC menu: Steamed Barramundi Fish Fillet in Black Bean Sauce

SIN-DEL
BtC menu: Lobster Thermidor with Fondant Potato, or Slow Braised Beef Cheek in Red Wine Jus

DEL-SIN
BtC menu: Lobster Thermidor, or Tandoori Kebab Platter, or Herb Crusted New Zealand Lamb Chop

SIN-MEL supper service and will have eaten in the Private Room
Inflight menu: Osetra Caviar
BtC menu: Lobster Thermidor with Fondant Potato, or Singapore Laksa, Singaporean Style Chicken Satay
I’ve had the Barramundi BTC out of SYD in J a couple of years back.

Back then it was served with jasmine rice, I see as of now it’s been changed to fried rice which I would’ve preferred. But the actual fish itself, that was good, and the Chinese black bean sauce compliments it nicely as well - I would recommend this dish, but Beef Cheek sounds good too.

Facing the same dilemma - barra with black bean (in which case, I'd stick on the champagne), or beef check (in which case, the Bordeaux would get a run - it's the 08 Pichon Longueville, which IIRC is also served in TPR?)

CE's photo a few pages ago show the '05 in the TPR vs the '08 onboard - the TPR also has The Bogan but a '15 vs the younger vintage onboard

MELso what dates? PM if you prefer 👍
PM sent.

Also, I realised my mathing wasn't mathing before. F Savers seem to be being released 29 days out, not 30. They seem to mainly be being released on Mondays to Thursdays, and only if there is Advantage availability in the lead-up to the 29 day mark.

Steady what dates? PM if you prefer 👍
Hey CE, I’m naive enough to have no problem with my travel dates being public…. I will probably post my flight details in the “meet me in the SQ lounge” thread so anyone who cares will know the flight as well…..

I would love to discover there was another AFFer on my flight, or in the lounge when I’m there.

There is a high chance these will be my last SQ F/R flights and plan to extract as much as I possibly can from the experience

MEL-SIN 1st Aug
SIN-DEL 2nd Aug
DEL-SIN 19th Aug
SIN-MEL 22nd Aug

Just a few tips for intending R / F pax to keep in mind:
  • MEL SKL F has a reasonable breakfast menu but nothing exceptional. Knowing the Lounge Manager there helps in that he can usually arrange chef to attempt to cook a breakfast not actually on menu – such as his variation of Croque Madame – eggs benedict or such may be achievable but not sure.
  • If your first flight in SQ R / F and you want the 'Gold Hand Written TPR Invitation' to keep as a souvenir then they are not handed out at check-in at most outstations but if you approach Lounge Manager on duty inside TPR and ask if you could please get one she will gladly arrange SIN F Check-in staff to produce you one and shoot it upstairs to you.
  • The SQ Bears have changed from original female / male to a single sex slightly larger version - I also think distribution to adults has been tightened significantly as these really are intended for kids but ask if you are inclined
  • Amenity Kits – outbound from SIN you will be offered a male or female Lalique kit depending on your sex – you can ask to exchange for other sex which is what I always do but no guarantee of supply. Inbound to SIN from outstations you will be supplied a unisex Lalique amenity kit – again you may be able to swap for a F or M version from previous sector if available.
  • TPR – Bfast menu nothing exceptional here but again Chefs will always prepare a special request for you if they have suitable ingredients on hand – Chefs just love creating. Lunch / dinner menu is usually quite acceptable and portions are not huge so you can go through the full range.
  • If time permits go over to F Lounge in T2 and check out the bar their – really beautiful and sampling a glass of Rare is something I always do - staff more than happy to snap a pic for you in both T2 and T3.
  • TPR Nap Rooms – seems they are becoming more popular and can be difficult to get lucky for extended session but you might. For longer transits airside ST hotels a better bet but gone are the bargain basement prices they used to be
Most of all enjoy every minute of your R / F experience – the service level is still best available even if F & B offerings no longer are.

@Cruiser Elite. Thanks so much for the above update. I will be going past in late July. Can you please help confirm when dinner starts? I’m arriving late afternoon and planning to stay for dinner if not too late. Thanks.

Hi Lina,

I believe 5 or 5:30pm. You can actually request the dinner menu during lunch hours and they would make what you want. Also don’t be shy and look at the FCL next to the TPR. There’s more options there.

Thank you. It’s been a while since I’ve dropped into the TPR and FCL. Looking forward to it.

What time your flight arrive Lina? From memory dinner starts 5pm I think - not sure finish time as I never stay later there
I’m arriving around 4pm I think. So, planning to hang out a bit to check things out first then grab dinner before leaving airport. Will fly out the next day for London.
