SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

So you book your R / F flts 12mths out and count down the days to be ‘let loose’ on the Krug - and then on 238 Sunday you are confronted with this:

IMG_0833.jpeg

Cristal not much of a step up from Dom IMHO - BUT - only saving grace is the Pol Roger - prolly the first B2B I have ever enjoyed - big step down from Krug but what do you do? 🤷‍♂️

And now to the reds - March Elderton Command was offered in F - yes that warrants a position on a F wine list - in May this reappears:

Seriously? SQ alleged ‘World Famous’ wine panel operating to a budget again or else they all got together and gave it a fair nudge before discussions 🥂🍷🥃🍸🍹🍾

And check what EK offering in F same day:

Not that the SV is great favourite of mine but it is a big step from its ugly sister.

Cruiser, you’re on 238 tomorrow? Us plebs in J don’t have to worry about Krug being withdrawn! If you want some entertainment, come visit my 58 year old buddy who’s never left mainland Australia before.

I was going to say the same. I'll never have to worry about the lack of Krug at my seat although I did score a glass or two of DOM when I celebrated my 80th onboard recently on a quick trip to SIN, where I used to live.

Random Poll
Which would you rank as the better champagne, purely based on taste/quality (ignore rrp, brand snob, how good you look on IG)

1. Dom Perignon
2. Krug
3. Tattinger Comtes de champagne

The ones served in first class/lounge

I preferred the krug, but didnt do a side by side,

My first try of the hyped up Rare millesium. Very dry/zesty,
Krug i still think is the best

Probably my last F/R flight in sia 😭

Flew SQ278, a few days ago in J, a was a little surprised that they wouldn’t serve champagne as a PDB. I mentioned that we had been served champagne on a previous couple of trips, but the response was that they couldn’t open it until airborne.
A new SQ directive?
I did convey my disappointment in the feedback for the flight.

First to board 238 this morning and totally ensconced in my go to 1C seat but a couple are separated in single seats 1A and 1D - once request to ‘swap’ with the 1A female pax is requested the only decent response is certainly - now in 1A which is just so foreign for a RHDer 🤷‍♂️

I am a simple man from a simple background - after 100s of R / F flts on SQ, EK, QF, TG, BA etc I still need to pinch myself that I can get to sit at the very pointy end of the plane - the excitement and enjoyment of each flt never dissipates - to be sitting here in SQ F today comparing $500 bottles of Champagne is an experience I truly treasure 👍

IMG_1331.jpegIMG_1332.jpeg

How do they compare I hear you ask? Well neither rates beside Krug but here we are - 6 weeks ago I had these same offerings on 238 MEL-SIN and 26 SIN-FRA - at that time I thought the PR better - today leaning towards Cristal - give me another 5hrs to firm that up 👍

Strike me down with a feather - Scr77 is on same flt today - I want to go have a Champs with him but flt a bit bumpy today - seat belt sign has been on for 30 mins and crew tell me another 45 mins it’s going to get bumpy again - hopefully it’ll flatten out soon and we can get to clink a glass 👍🥂🍾
