Two questions for the SQ brains trust regarding schedule changes on Saver J awards if I may (unfortunately, I can't find a published schedule change policy).
- Can I change to a different destination in the same country without needing Saver availability to that other destination? (I'd prefer to fly into cough and work my way up to Osaka from there.)
- Can I add a stopover to the trip? (I suspect the answer is no, and it's ultimately not essential.)
The background is that I have a J Saver award from MEL-SIN-KIX in mid-August, with MEL-SIN on 13 August and SIN-KIX on 14 August, overnighting it in Singapore on the way through (not as a stopover though but as a 22 hour layover).
On Thursday, I received notice it was subject to a significant schedule change to my flight, with both the MEL-SIN and SIN-KIX flights each a day later. Weirdly, SIN-KIX is not available for sale for cash fares on 13-15 August (including the flight I'm scheduled on), so I'm not sure I can book to arrive on 14 August as planned.
As I understand it, I can move the flight +/- 7 days, but I have a very strong preference against the default offer of getting in a day later to Osaka due to an existing hotel booking.. However, when I emailed SQ, they advised that there needed to be Saver availability for the award, which there isn't not surprisingly) and that a stopover would cost extra (not surprised given the normal fare rules for Saver awards).
