SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

So I completed 4 sectors all J last week - 208 MEL-SIN / 830 SIN-PVG / 807 PEK-SIN / 217 SIN-MEL - I thought the quality of meals served on all 4 sectors showed a considerable improvement on what i hade experienced 2nd half 2023 - what are views of other recent pax.

The only real downside is the change of lunch to brekky offered on 830 dep SIN 09:0 post covid. PITA - lunch would be soi much better.

And I still give a big recommendation for the BTC lamb rack ex SIN 👍
I’ve done a number of long haul and regional flights recently (incl coughet) and agree the meals have significantly improved.

Our SilverKris Lounge at London Heathrow Airport Terminal 2 will be closed for refurbishment from 8 February 2024 until mid-2024. During this period, Singapore Airlines (SIA) First Class and Business Class customers, as well as PPS Club, KrisFlyer Elite Gold, and Star Alliance Gold members travelling on SIA flights, will be invited to use United Airlines’ United Club lounge at Terminal 2, located opposite Gate B46. Eligible customers may also make use of the other Star Alliance lounges located within Heathrow Airport.

So what would people recommend then ?

Air Canada also good. Avoid Lufthansa lounge.

A random post on my most prized SQ bears. One earned from a SQ F flight another gifted by a FA as they had run out of J ducks. So I now have the blue J, green F, chef white and Disney pairs.
@Cruiser Elite please continue to educate us on any new bears.

I flew 228 J MEL-SIN on Saturday last and the food was better than the last time I flew with SQ. I had the lamb cheek and found it quite tender although the sauce was bland. Overall an excellent flight although I still prefer 238 for a more convenient arrival time in SIN. My only complaint (and definitely a first world problem) is why only three crackers with the cheese. I remember the old days when the cheese/fruit and port came as a seperate service run after the sweets trolley. Now you get them all at the same time.

I do have a question though. I had my VA number added at check in and it is reflected on the boarding pass as I need a few SC to maintain Gold for another year.

I now see that the miles have been credited to SQ. Is it worth chasing SQ to try tom get the miles credited to the program I requested? If so, any idea how I do this.

Yes it is a little annoying but just inform Crew that is how you want it now - dessert or sweets whatever you want to call it first and cheese later - and you want extra crackers or a bread roll or whatever with your cheese - won’t be a problem 👍

Meanwhile, at the back of the bus, I've noticed some minor improvements to the economy class service as well, food seems more generous and the return of the pre-departure hot towel service is a nice touch (and delicious Speculoos Ice Cream). The wifi worked well for the nearly all of the flight, and the IFE worked for the whole journey and was available in built in screens - , unlike my last journey from MEL to SIN on an unnamed full service carrier which had ipads that didn't start working until 90+ mins into the flight, and also the toilets were kept sparkling clean and well stocked, also unlike a the unnamed carrier which had gross toilets that weren't cleaned (other than by passengers) and ran out of toilet paper.

This was on the new SQ248 service, the 7am departure. It was nice to arrive home around lunchtime (in fact perfect timing for lunch and a couple of glasses of Rare at the F lounge). However, I did have some conference calls that went to 11pm that night, and given I'd been up since 4:30am MEL time, it was a long day, and not sure if I'd do that service again if I didn't have a clear evening.

Had the MEL F lounge to myself and enjoyed a nice breakfast at 6am.

I agree, the WiFi was much better and more consistent than my last experience. With almost all pax having access, I expected a spotty signal. Only used it for emails, browsing and WhatsApp, not streaming.
