SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

.. and they'd need to get a bigger J lounge in Melb as well. Gets pretty squeezy in there with 40+ J on a 777. Imagine near twice that number on a 380. The horror...

Yeah, i had learnt that new suites was only a380.
I was kinda disappointed there was no a380 from melb to singapore at all when searched 2 months entirely.
Is there no a380s from mel to sing?

I was kind of hoping it was a system glitch or it would get updated later 😂

Oct 2024 is the end of the Northern Hemp Summer peak season, SQ this year ran 1 x A380 to MEL during this time.

My main concern for your F seat it they swap that aircraft to an A350 with no F

SQ228 and SQ237 was the A380 this year so who knows, but expect the official announcement this month for the April - 27 October 2024 aircraft

They can renovate that dump while they are at it as well, or you can just go to the NZ lounge

Quick question please.... For an upcoming SQ trip to Asia, I want to attach my VFF number for the points and SCs. However, I also have status with SQ that would be good to use to access the better lounge in SIN etc. Is it better to add the VFF number after check in for each sector or will SQ recognise my SQ status if I show my electronic Krisflyer card at the lounge even if a Velocity # is shown on the Boarding Pass?

If, and a big if, you can access someone who is knowledgeable/competent at check in (a problem now that it's done by machines), what you want is the FQTV traveller field to have your VFF number and the FQTS field to have your KF number in it. The boarding pass from memory would print your VA number and SQ status, something like VAxx_xx_x SQ*G.

Many thanks. I'll try in MEL when I start the trip and see how I go.

So, I have done this on occasion when I have surplus KrisFlyer miles. I have my VA number added as a linked account in my KrisFlyer account, and if I have input the VA number into my booking, it has still printed my boarding pass with the TPPS designation but with points/SCs credited to VA.

I'm not sure if this is best practice, but it's worked for me on the few occasions I've tried it.

Amex Lounge - I can't stand no windows and the food offerings are meagre at best, the staff have always been "ok"

SQ Lounge - Has some light, but it's busy, feels dated (Just missed the newer design that SYD got) staff are great here, food OK, wines BAD

The House - Staff great, food pathetic, wines BAD, coughtails good

NZ Lounge - Better in all aspects and I feel great that SQ get a bill for my visit :)

Can you get VA status credit on a points redemption flight with SQ?

Hi all, just wondering if there’s a limit on lounge re-entries for the KrisFlyer Gold lounges in Singapore? My partner (VA Bronze) and I (VA Platinum) are flying economy and have an eight hour transit in Singapore and we were hoping to check out both the T2 and T3 lounges (among other activities) in that time. Thanks in advance !

That's fine. We did one lounge for lunch, wandered around then went into another lounge in the afternoon.

I’m sure they expect peeps to wander out for a little bit of shopping. Un-Singaporean not to! 😁

i know this is probably the most amateur question for someone who has used the SIA website more than twice but

i had some miles expiring 30/nov, on 30/nov i booked a flight , and i thought all hunky dory

a week or so later i get a "tickieting time limit for your booking: xx_X"
lo and behold my ticket is reserverd, but not confirmed

ive never seen this, and whats it for? i assume to reserve a ticket= you pay for it

also, had i let it expire, would i have lost those miles, however, my miles balance didnt go down

Does anyone know how long it takes for the points to come back in when you cancel a redemption booking? says up to 6 weeks but the points will expire by then.
